Hello to all my lovely followers! 👋✨
We are all absolutely loving this beautiful sunshine, but while we’re busy soaking up the rays, our furry best friends might be feeling the heat a little too much. 🐾🥵
To keep our pups safe and happy, here is a quick checklist of things to consider and questions to ask yourself before heading out:
Timing is everything: What time are you going out? Ideally, we want to wait until the temperature is 25°C or below (early mornings and late evenings are best!).
H2O on the go: Have I packed enough water for the dog? Even if it's just a short little walk, they need to stay hydrated. 💧
The 5-second tarmac test: Pavements get boiling as temperatures rise above 25°C. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws and can cause painful blisters. 🐾🔥
Car safety: If you have to drive, keep journeys as short as possible. Make sure the car is well-ventilated with the windows down, and ensure your dog is secure and strapped in safely. 🚗
Seek the shade: Try to stick to woodland, shaded areas while it's sunny. Your dog will love exploring all the cool forest smells anyway! 🌳🌲
Keep it steady: Try to keep dogs on the lead. This prevents them from overexerting themselves, keeps their heart rate and body temperature down, and helps prevent heatstroke. 🐕
Check for hitchhikers: Watch out for ticks! It’s officially tick season, so do a quick body check after your walk. 🐜
And last but not least... you don't always have to go far! Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy the sun right from the comfort of your garden. ☀️🏡💛
