Okay, before I go on, I am going to warn everyone that the following contents within this post are graphic, but this needs to be out there because this was 100% avoidable. So if you are easily upset by reading and pictures please stop now and don't go any further. This is going to be a long post. This afternoon I received multiple missed calls one after the other and a voicenote asking to please help with a fox that was just laying there with it's eyes open. The fox was in Clayhall and I had just got home from work so I set straight off as it was only 12 minutes away. On arrival I found the fox easily thanks to the callers precise directions, but unfortunately the fox had already passed away, and had for a little while as it was starting to stiffen up. The more I looked at the fox something wasn't adding up. There was blood to the front paws, but no injury. There was blood to the front shoulder, but no injury. There was wood nearby which had blood over it. There was a brick, which also had blood over it, but there were still no visible injuries. Then I saw the foxes tongue, and I could see blood over it, but the jaw was stiff. I managed to tease his jaw open a little and then it became clear what had happened. In the back of his throat I could just make out something, so I teased my fingers in and gripped something and started to lightly pull out, but it snapped off. The bit I pulled out was just the corner of a large thick plastic food bag. The rest of the bag was stuck firmly right the way down his throat and had completely blocked off his airways. The caller came home and showed me some blood. This is where it took another twist and explained a lot more. The fox had got hold of a discarded food bag on a first floor landing above some shops. It swallowed the bag on this landing and started to choke to death. In a frantic panic of probably retching trying to dislodge the bag it has ended up continually biting through and severely lacerating it's own tongue. The tongue has a very rich blood supply and now the fox started to bleed out everywhere. It managed to either make it's way, or fall down the stairs and collapses and dies. This fox was in absolutely pristine condition and died unnecessarily from something that was completely avoidable.

Here is as promised an update on the little local celebrity muntjac deer. This is the little old fella who has been spotted recently in and around the Clitheroe Road, Warden Drive and Prestwood Drive areas of Havering park. The reason he was staying in this area was because he had been struck hard by a vehicle which drove off and left him after knocking him down. He was assessed then, and as he was coping well because munjac deer are extremely hardy, and generally cope well. Myself and Shantel went and saw him and again assessed him, and made a plan. Yesterday after deciding his injuries were hindering him, myself, Shantel and Declan from Harold Hill Deer Aid went to a front garden and caught him straight away. Whilst we was attending him we was informed that he had in fact been clipped heavily by another vehicle. We took him straight off to get an expert opinion on these injuries. Whilst there it was discovered that he had Aladdin slippers on both his front hooves which indicates that he hadn't walked right for some time. The biggest injury came to the front left leg. The knee joint was badly displaced, but the socket joint at the shoulder bone had completely shattered and disintegrated. So basically the front leg was pointed out away from the body and held in place by just the tendon which must have been causing excruciating pain. After much deliberation it was decided that the kindest thing to do was to let him slip away to sleep. He was a very elderly little man in deer terms, as in the wild they tend to live to generally 10–12 years, and he was known from past visits to be around the 10 year old mark. It wasn't the ending that anyone wanted, but with already being hit by two vehicles in the past week it was far better than him getting knocked down again and not being found and suffering.
Totally at rest now Ossie boy. 🦌🌈💔

Today myself and Shantel Louise from Harold Hill Deer Aid attended this old muntjac over in the Collier Row area. We went there after calls for concern towards his health, but mainly just to view and assess him. He is already known to us and a plan is being put in place for him. 🦌

Today has seen a message and a visit to this poor boy over Collier Row. Unfortunately he ran off as soon as I entered the garden. I will warn you now those of a squeamish nature shouldn't probably look at the pictures. I'm not too sure what has happened to his face, if he has put it in something, someone has thrown something over him, or he has had an encounter with a firework. That won't be known until he is actually caught. He is now a priority for me with one trap set and another trap being set in a neighbouring garden tomorrow. He needs urgent help.

Saturday saw 2 calls over to 2 farms in Abridge to 2 seperate rabbits, this was followed on from one the day before at Lambourne end. All 3 rabbits suffering from myxomatosis which unfortunately is life threatening, highly contagious and comes with a 95% fatality rate. The absolute kindest thing was to take them to the vets to be put straight to sleep. 🐇🐇🐇🌈🌈💔

I am blessed now to have 3 extendable poles of 9ft, 10ft & 12ft, 4 nets including a 1ft, 2ft, 3ft & 4ft and now my replacement Fox warrior rubberised net has arrived. This will enable me to now help much more than I could have ever reached beforehand. They are all now so much easier to transport in this easy to carry lightweight tent bag. 🥰
