🐾 Post rabies vacc 🐾

Mum brain is fully engaged and yes I’m likely over thinking it (typical of me) but checking main markers of health just settles me.

Got me thinking, do you know what’s normal for your dog? Checking capillary refill, pulse, lymph nodes and temperature means we have to know what is usual for our dogs. Oddly Peggy has always had prominent lymph nodes on her neck, but alas it’s her normal.

Ive avoided booking anything for fear of backing out last minute but now the tunnel is booked, campsites are being marked out!!

I think this video is an opportunity that as a therapist I can be level headed and talk though concerns… however underneath it all Im also a mum who worries… I guess I just want people to know that even those who are well versed in dogs can have a wobble of confidence!

🐾 Rabies Vaccine 🐾

This took a lot, but I know it will be so worth it when we set off on our adventure!

The fear of adverse reactions is real but we support the body with range and

These opinions and protocol are my own, ultimately do what’s best for you and your dog I just wanted to share my experience to help others who maybe are stuck on the same fence as me.

🐾 I’m not that dramatic 🐾

Ok, well I am a bit dramatic but honestly I feel like a record on repeat.

Mild diagnosis doesn’t equate a mild pain experience.

Please pass the message on because I’m too old to be rolling around on the floor crying 🫪

šŸ“šStudy UpdatešŸ“š

You lot have been through the trenches with me on this one, the support with every assignment deadline has not gone unheard.

The colleagues who understood my ā€œI’m going underground to finish this workā€ phases.

Running a busy pain management clinic, an online business, lecturing, writing, content creation all whilst studying was brutal.

There have been tears, moments of what the f**k am I doing. Thankfully after 2 years part time study I have boxed away a tidy 84. This first acedemic year doesn’t count towards final degree grade (as is standard) but has taught me so much about various body systems and scientific academic writing.

I’m taking a year out from studying, to finish writing my second book. Much of what I have learnt will inform several chapters.

For those who want to look at further education and think it’s not the right time or too late…. just start.

Don’t think you’re clever enough… just start.

This is my second degree in a completely different realm to my previous studies. If you’re passionate about a topic… just start.

Thank you to those closest who have kept my spirits up and had faith in me when I had none.

🐾 Working Dogs 🐾

When Impact Working Dog Consultancy enlightened me to the world of Police and Military dogs, I wondered what I could bring to the table?

Working dogs are a far cry from the pet dogs I usually work with but alas a dog is a dog and pain is pain!

So I’ve spent today with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary learning as much as I can. What does training look like, work schedules, operational requirements, feeding routines, standard handler checks, common ailments, the list goes on.

Lawrie and the team were so welcoming, answered my millions of questions and trusted me with recruits at the start of their career all the way through to those enjoying a well deserved retirement.

The 5am alarm was absolutely worth it

🐾 Pain Trials🐾

Shall we just assume that if a pet parent reports suspected pain, that they may be onto something?

Radical ey, well not really as caregivers are incredibly insightful into what life looks like for our patients.

Slut dropping for pain trials is both a promise and a threat.

šŸŽ„ Photizo Studio Weekend šŸŽ„

Well that’s a wrap on two full days filming with and what an absolute blast it has been!

With all creatures great and small we discussed the versatile use of photobiomodulation.

Huge thank you to Photizo and Liv for trusting my creative vision for this project. Photizo has been with me as long as I’ve been a therapist and it’s a dream come true to see this project come into fruition!

for supporting and facilitating two intense days of filming, my endless bloopers and bringing your creativity and expertise.

Last but not least to every single member of the YPT family, those who took time out of their weekend to bring this project to life. For allowing me to share your dogs pain management journey. Every single pooch and animal was incredible.

It was towards the end of filming on Sunday I was sat having a cuddle with Beau (black Cockerpoo) I realised what a journey we have all been on together. The dogs that have been there since the beginning of Yorkshire Pooches Therapies, the dogs who have moved clinic spaces with me and watched the business grow. The new dogs who are coming on leaps and bounds with their pain management. I can’t even put into words how grateful I am that I can be part of your dogs journey. Thank you again, your support means the world.

Now we wait on the edit, it will be so worth it because the sneaky peaks we have so far look phenomenal!

Lots of love Auntie Yaz

🐾 Making Pain Fun?! 🐾

Understanding pain is my bag.
Educating on pain is my bag.

Pain can be pretty grim for the most part, but that doesn’t mean sharing knowledge can’t be mixed with some dry Yorkshire humour.
