‼️We haw now just been reliably informed that there is now a case actually in the Carlisle area. This is a separate case to the one I have announced and is much closer so I can now confirm we will 100% not be doing any Puppy viewings for our current litters ‼️
❗️Just to add I have personally rang
The veterinary practice this morning and had confirmation for myself that the diagnosis is confirmed and not just suspected
There has been a confirmed case of Parvovirus not a million miles away from us in Cumbria . It is not on our door step however it is from a very heavily populated dog & human area and it travels very fast
In dogs (Canine parvovirus)
Canine parvovirus is spread through:
* Contact with an infected dog’s f***s.
* Contaminated objects such as food bowls, leashes, shoes, clothing, or kennels.
* Environmental contamination; the virus can survive for months to years in some conditions.
* Humans cannot catch the disease.
* However, people can unknowingly transport the virus on their:
* Hands
* Shoes
* Clothing
* Pet bedding, bowls, or equipment
*If these contaminated items come into contact with susceptible dogs (especially puppies), the virus can be spread indirectly and it most cases be fatal .
Now many of you may feel this is not a big deal & what I’m about to say is Uber the top but the risk of this deadly disease won’t be effecting you or your own dogs it will be mine .
As a result of looking at the risks we will not be allowing any studs to Sykehead and we may have to reevaluate our viewing days over the weekend of 13th/14th as heart breaking as this will be for our puppy familys it will be no where near as heart breaking as it would be for us to have parvo here at Sykehead . Although all our adult dogs are vaccinated, our young puppies aren’t. I hope everyone can understand this for our point of view .
Breeders like myself only manage to stay clear of these diseases with strict bio security measures in place .
