Hi everyone!
I thought I'd share a little life update/about me post, talking about my riding journey and the progress I'm making! 🩷
I know a lot of us horsey people have/do experience confidence problems, niggling negative thoughts and even fear, when it comes to getting on board. My journey is no different. I won't go through my whole story, but I'll share where I am at right now.
I've recently taken on a new role and I've found myself more anxious than ever. I know a lot of it is just that I really want to do a good job, which means I put a lot of pressure on myself, meaning the riding can become more of a chore than a pleasure. I found myself saying no to riding and when I did say yes, I felt such intense anxiety that I could taste my heartbeat (metaphorically of course!). Over the short time in my new role, I've ridden quite a few different horses and I have had amazing support from my team. Today, I even did a dressage test in front of spectators! On a horse that I hadn't ridden in 10 years and a horse (although very very honest and sweet), isn't easy to ride. I came away absolutely on top of the world. I have a long way to go, but I will continue to challenge myself and build my riding confidence right back up again!
All this to say, if you're struggling with your rider confidence right now, take it at your own pace but don't back down from a challenge, you're far more capable than your brain is telling you! 🩷
ps. I do actually offer equine services like poo-picking and mucking out, take a look around my page for more information. Or, send me a message here on Facebook, over on Instagram under the handle Mollimucksit. You can also email me at [email protected] 🩷
