🌞 Hot days = think enrichment, not just exercise!🐾
When the temperature rises, long walks and energetic play aren’t always the best option, but our pets still need things to keep their clever little brains busy.
Here are a few of our favourite ways to make summer days more interesting:
🥩 Make mealtimes a treasure hunt
Pop small pieces of gourmet air-dried sausage or other favourite treats into a snuffle mat and let your pet sniff, search and forage for their dinner.
🦴 Choose a long-lasting chew
Give them something natural to work on in a shady spot in the garden or indoors. It’s a brilliant way to provide mental stimulation while they enjoy a quiet afternoon.
🥣 Make dinner more exciting
Bone broth can be added to meals to give them something a little different at mealtimes, and you can even freeze it into little enrichment treats for an extra refreshing activity.
🌿 Remember: enrichment doesn't have to be complicated.
Sniffing, licking, chewing and foraging are all natural behaviours that can help keep your pet occupied and content when it’s simply too hot for their usual adventures.
And, of course, fresh water, shade and keeping an eye on the temperature come first. 💚
At Jules’ Cupboard, we believe keeping pets happy starts with giving them good things to eat, interesting things to explore and plenty of opportunities to simply be dogs.
