**Sad Post**

A black and white female cat was brought into our practice after being found in a garden off Sandfields Road, St Neots.

Sadly, she was very poorly and passed away shortly after arriving.

She had no microchip or collar, so we have been unable to identify her owner.

Please contact the practice on 01480 210310 if you think she may be yours.

Xodar came in for his castration at the beginning of August, and safe to sayโ€ฆ he was not impressed with his fabulous flower Buster collar!

Buster collars are an important part of post-operative care, as they prevent our patients from licking or chewing at their wounds. This helps reduce the risk of infection and prevents them from reopening their wound while they heal.

The good news is Xodar is now officially cone-free and absolutely loving life without it! ๐Ÿฑ

**Sad post** ***reunited with owner***

A deceased male neutered tabby Domestic Short Hair has been brought in by a member of the public after being found on Great North Road, near the High Street junction.

He was wearing a blue buckle collar and is microchipped, but unfortunately the chip is not registered, so we have been unable to trace his owners.

If you recognise him or know someone missing a cat matching this description, please contact us on 01480 210310.

Lola's Weight Loss Journey! ๐Ÿพ

We're so proud of Lola and her dedicated owner for the amazing progress they've made together!

Lola came in to see RVN Steph , who used the Hill's Quick Reco programme to create a personalised diet plan tailored specifically to Lola's body condition, lifestyle and individual needs. Just 4 weeks later, Lola has lost 700g, which is exactly on track for safe, healthy weight loss.

Lolaโ€™s owner has already noticed many improvements:
๐Ÿ• She feels lighter and is moving around much more comfortably.
๐Ÿ• Her mobility has improved.
๐Ÿ• She's lost several centimetres around her neck, waist and chest.
๐Ÿ• Her tummy has settled, her poos are much better, and she's far less gassy.

Lola is doing brilliantly on Hill's Prescription Diet Metabolic + j/d, a specially formulated low-fat food that supports healthy weight loss while also helping to improve joint health and mobility.

A huge well done also goes to Lola's owner, who has been working incredibly hard by sticking to the plan, cutting back on human food and snacks, and staying committed to Lola's health. It really shows that teamwork makes all the difference! โค๏ธ

Maintaining a healthy weight isn't just about the number on the scales. It can improve mobility, reduce strain on joints, support digestive health, increase energy levels, and help pets enjoy a longer and healthier life.

If you think your pet could benefit from losing weight, why not book them in with Steph for weight clinics! We'd love to help you create a personalised plan to get your pet feeling their very best.

Give us a call or send us a message to book an appointment today! ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿพ Missing Cat โ€“ Please Share ๐Ÿพ

Bear is a black, neutered male with a distinctive white patch on his chest. He is microchipped.

He was last seen in the early hours of Saturday morning in the Loves Way, Loves Farm area, close to Gotham Way and Belland Road.

If you live locally, please take a moment to check your gardens, sheds, garages, and other outbuildings, as cats can sometimes become accidentally trapped.

If you believe you have seen Bear or have any information that may help reunite him with his owner, please contact the practice on 01480 210310. Thank you

- Sad post -

A deceased cat has been brought into the practice. He is a young black male, not neutered, with no distinctive markings. Unfortunately, he was not wearing a collar and does not have a microchip, so we have been unable to identify him.

If you think he may be your cat, please give us a call on 01480 210310.

Our hearts go out to whoever may be missing their pet โค๏ธ

**Heatwave Alert: Keep Your Pets Safe This Summer!** โ˜€๏ธ

As temperatures soar, our pets are at increased risk of heat-related illnesses, including heatstroke, which can become a life-threatening emergency very quickly.

When should I walk my dog?

- Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler.
- Avoid walking during the hottest part of the day (typically 11amโ€“4pm).
- Remember: if the pavement is too hot for your hand for 5 seconds, it's too hot for your pet's paws!

Tips to keep pets cool:

- Ensure fresh water is always available.
- Provide access to shade and cool indoor spaces.
- Use cooling mats, damp towels, or fans where appropriate.
- Offer frozen treats or ice cubes as a refreshing snack.
- Avoid strenuous exercise during hot weather.
- Never leave pets in parked vehicles โ€“ even for a few minutes.
- Consider keeping cats indoors where it is cooler.
- Bring outdoor bunnies and guinea pigs inside or offer a cool shaded area.

Travelling to your veterinary appointment during hot weather. If your pet has an appointment, please help them stay comfortable on the journey:
- Travel during the coolest part of the day where possible.
- Ensure your vehicle is well ventilated or air-conditioned before setting off.
- Bring water for your pet, especially on longer journeys.
- Use carriers with good airflow and avoid covering them with blankets.
- Consider placing a cool mat or damp towel in carriers for cats and small animals.
- If you arrive early, please do not leave your pet waiting in a parked car. Contact the practice if you need assistance on arrival.
- Do not walk here! If you arenโ€™t able to take a cab or have someone drop you off, please call us to re-arrange your appointment. Your petโ€™s safety is our number one priority.

Which pets are most at risk?

Some animals struggle more in hot weather, including:
- Flat-faced (brachycephalic) breeds such as Bulldogs, Pugs, French Bulldogs, and Persian cats.
- Elderly pets.
- Overweight animals.
- Very young puppies and kittens.
- Pets with heart, respiratory, or other underlying health conditions.
- Thick-coated breeds.

Signs of heatstroke:

* Excessive panting
* Drooling
* Lethargy or weakness
* Bright red gums
* Vomiting or diarrhoea
* Collapse or seizures

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heatstroke, move them to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, begin cooling with lukewarm (not ice-cold) water, and contact us immediately on 01480 210310.
