Holistic = Treating the body as a whole.
30th August - Today is "National Holistic Pet Day" - a day we celebrate our pets and help them have more fulfilling lives.
Taking a holistic approach...
Meaning to treat as a "whole", encouraging pet owners and Veterinary professionals to look into an integrated wellness approach alongside conventional veterinary medicine.
Evaluating their diet, home environment and lifestyle and offer advice, starting with the basics of good nutrition, physical exercise, and mental stimulation, that could be effecting their long-term health, rather than just the symptoms of the illness or disease.
A holistic approach to well-being is nothing new for humans, but applying this to the lifestyle of our household pets is still a growing trend.
Joint conditions for example: surgery and/or pain management is often required BUT ensuring their nutrition covers everything they need, weight management, reducing compensatory issues with complementary therapies such as laser, massage, physio, acupuncture and Hydrotherapy.
