Apparently it’s International Dog Day 🐕🦺🌍🐶
Which feels slightly unnecessary in our house, because I’m fairly certain every day has been Dog Day for quite some time.
It started with Freddie.
For the first few years, it was me and him. My mate, my shadow, my rescue lad and, whether either of us realised it at the time, the beginning of pretty much everything that came afterwards.
Somewhere in those years, Martyn’s Mutts happened too. I started walking dogs, training dogs and building a little business around something I genuinely loved doing.
Then Mrs Mutts came along… and she brought Bernie with her.
Suddenly our little team of two became a family of four ❤️
And Martyn’s Mutts became something bigger too.
More dogs. More people. More ideas. More ways of helping. Eventually becoming this slightly ridiculous Mutts universe of Mooches, Momentum, Minds, Minders, Moments & Mavericks that the four of us somehow find ourselves at the centre of now.
But underneath all the Martyn’s Mutts madness, there are still just my boys.
Freddie & Bernie.
Two completely different dogs. Two completely different journeys into my life. My family, my best mates and my occasional absolute pains in the arse 😂
And in four days they’ll be officially one family when their Dad marries their Mum Tarsha Harrison 💒
Which, when I think back to those first years of just me and Freddie, is pretty bloody special 💜
So Happy International Dog Day to every Mutt we’ve had the privilege of calling part of our extended family.
And especially to these two.
Freddie - the big rescue lad who started all of this.
Bernie - the little lemon lunatic who joined us for the ride and helped make our family, and Martyn’s Mutts, what they are today.
You changed my life, lads.
Although I’d still appreciate getting approximately 30% of the sofa back at some point.
Happy International Dog Day from Uncle Martyn, Freddie & Bernie 🐾🫶🏽
