Our next 6-week Easy Peasy Puppy Course starts on Sunday 15th November at 9:00am in Greenmount, Bury, and I can't wait to welcome our next group of pups and their guardians! 🐶

Bringing a new puppy home is exciting, but let's be honest, it can also be a little overwhelming! 😂

The biting, the jumping, the selective hearing, the constant sniffing, the disappearing socks... sound familiar?

That's where our puppy classes come in!

Over the six weeks, we'll work together to build some really important foundations that will help you and your puppy navigate everyday life.

🐶 Recall: Helping your puppy learn that coming back to you is worth it.

🐶 Loose Lead Walking: Building the early foundations for enjoyable walks together.

🐶 Focus & Engagement: Teaching your puppy that paying attention to you can be just as rewarding as everything else going on around them.

🐶 Leave It: Helping your puppy make better choices around things we'd rather they didn't investigate!

🐶 Settle & Relaxation: Learning that sometimes doing absolutely nothing is a skill worth having.

🐶 Confidence Building: Helping your puppy explore, learn and experience the world at their own pace.

And plenty more along the way!

Every puppy joining us will receive a FREE Puppy Pack at their first class, packed with useful information and goodies, plus a few other freebies throughout the course!

🌳 Our classes are held outdoors in Greenmount, giving us a fantastic opportunity to practise training in a real-world environment, with all those interesting sights, sounds and smells that puppies love.

And don't worry if you miss something or need a reminder!

Every class is followed up with an email containing videos of the behaviours we've taught, so you can continue practising at home and refer back to them whenever you need.

One thing I always try to get across in my classes is that we're not looking for perfect puppies.

We're looking to build understanding, confidence and a great relationship between you and your dog.

And we're going to have some fun doing it! 😁

Our Manchester Half-Marathon adventure...

Tomorrow, Aimee and I will be taking on the Manchester Half Marathon for joesbuddyline. ❤️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

When we cross that finish line, my training and the run itself will add up to over 200 miles.

Behind those miles are weeks of finding time to train, tired legs and getting ourselves out of the door when it would have been easier to stay at home.

It hasn’t quite been the preparation I’d hoped for. The weeks of extreme heat meant some runs couldn’t happen, and others were shorter than we’d planned. We’ve had to adapt, but we’ve kept going and tomorrow we’ll give it everything we’ve got.

We’re raising money for Joe’s Buddy Line, a charity that helps promote and protect the mental health of young people, from primary school through to university. Their work supports mental wellbeing within education, helping young people understand their feelings and find support when they need it.

Every young person deserves to feel heard, supported and less alone. That’s a cause worth putting our trainers on for. ❤️

1 week to go...well...6 days and 13hrs...not that I'm counting!!

Times are tough, but they are tougher for some of our younger generation out there. Check out joesbuddyline, see what support they offer to young people, from Primary School through to University! They do amazing work that hopefully will spread across the country.

🐾 Vito’s Thinking Game with Blake 🐾

Here’s Blake having a go at Vito’s Thinking Game.

This is a brilliant little game that helps dogs slow down, think, make choices and work things out for themselves.

We started nice and easy with just 2 plates, then gradually built it up as Blake started to understand the game. In this video, I’ve sped things up a little so you can see how he works through it.

What I love about this type of training is that it is not about telling the dog what to do over and over again.

It is about setting up the environment so the dog can think.

They try something.

They get feedback.

They adjust.

They learn.

For dogs like Blake, who can be quite sensitive, these little thinking games can be a lovely way to build confidence, offer enrichment and give them a job to do without adding loads of pressure.

You can see him searching, problem solving and starting to understand the pattern.

That is the good stuff.

Training does not always need to be fast, flashy or complicated.

Sometimes it is a few plates, a few treats, and giving your dog the chance to use their brain. 🧠🐶
