Hartley was adopted from our rescue around 18 months ago, and his family have done a wonderful job helping him grow into a much more confident, happy and settled dog. Unfortunately, his owners have now separated, and the change in circumstances means Hartley would regularly be left alone for 8+ hours a day — something his owner knows would be too much for him. His owner describes him as a fantastic, sweet and intelligent dog who can initially be shy or fearful, particularly around unfamiliar men. Women generally earn his trust more quickly, but with gentle introductions and kindness, he gradually relaxes and shows his affectionate, loving personality.

His progress on walks has been remarkable! Previously more reactive, Hartley now rarely reacts to people or other dogs. He is walked with a loose-fitting muzzle as a precaution, and his owner has worked hard to help him feel more comfortable in the world.

He loves durable chew toys, enjoys his familiar routines and is fully housetrained. He is also apparently not a fan of rain or strong winds — some adventures are simply better enjoyed from a warm sofa! 😄

Hartley's most important requirement is human companionship. He does experience separation anxiety, although with his current family he has learnt to manage regular absences of around an hour and occasionally up to 3 hours once settled.

His ideal home would be with someone who works from home, is retired, or where family members have different working schedules, so he isn't regularly left alone for long periods.
He needs kind, understanding people who will continue building his confidence, respect his initial caution around strangers and give him time to settle. A house with a garden would be lovely. He could potentially live with a compatible dog following careful introductions, or be a much-loved only dog.

Nine months ago, Gloria arrived in the UK and joined a loving family who have worked a lot to help her settle, build confidence and enjoy her new life.

They love her dearly, and deciding to find her another home has been heartbreaking. But they have come to realise that Gloria simply isn't suited to busy city living.

The constant encounters with unfamiliar dogs and people, traffic, noise and unpredictable situations have become increasingly difficult for her to cope with. Her family believes she would be much happier in a quieter, rural environment, with space to explore, enjoy nature and continue building her confidence.

Her family explains that when Gloria feels comfortable with another dog, she is playful, happy and thoroughly enjoys their company. However, initial encounters can be difficult. On a lead she may react strongly and defensively towards unfamiliar dogs, particularly in busy environments where she has little space to move away.
Her reactions towards people and dogs on city walks have become a serious concern, and her family has had to restrict her interactions to keep everyone safe.
Gloria needs a person with some previous experience, who understands leash-reactivity of not confident dogs, can read canine body language, we will be happy to advice a qualified, positive-reinforcement behaviourist if his support will be useful.

Her love of other dogs gives us hope that, with the right guidance, careful introductions and a suitable environment, she can enjoy those friendships again.

We are looking for a new home for Gloria, preferably in the countryside or a quiet rural area, away from the constant pressures of city life. Her ideal family would offer a secure garden, access to quiet countryside walks, plenty of physical and mental activity, and the patience to continue her training.

Understanding the rescue dogs, particularly those who has lack of confidence in unfamiliar outside environment and leash reactivity, is essential.

A calm and confident medium resident dog could potentially be a wonderful companion.

Nine months ago, Gloria arrived in the UK and joined a loving family who have worked a lot to help her settle, build confidence and enjoy her new life.

They love her dearly, and deciding to find her another home has been heartbreaking. But they have come to realise that Gloria simply isn't suited to busy city living.

The constant encounters with unfamiliar dogs and people, traffic, noise and unpredictable situations have become increasingly difficult for her to cope with. Her family believes she would be much happier in a quieter, rural environment, with space to explore, enjoy nature and continue building her confidence.

And there is something particularly important about Gloria: SHE ABSOLUTELY LOVES OTHER DOGS when can interact freely! ❤️🐕

She is affectionate and devoted to her people, eager to learn and happiest when she has opportunities to explore, exercise and enjoy life alongside someone she trusts.

Gloria is a clever girl who already knows basic commands and enjoys learning. She has lived in a family home with a garden, is fully house-trained and has formed a strong bond with her people.
Her favourite activity? PLAYING WITH OTHER DOGS! 🐕❤️
Her family explains that when Gloria feels comfortable with another dog, she is playful, happy and thoroughly enjoys their company. However, initial encounters can be difficult. On a lead she may react strongly and defensively towards unfamiliar dogs, particularly in busy environments where she has little space to move away.
Her reactions towards people and dogs on city walks have become a serious concern, and her family has had to restrict her interactions to keep everyone safe.
Gloria needs a person with some previous experience, who understands leash-reactivity of not confident dogs, can read canine body language, we will be happy to advice a qualified, positive-reinforcement behaviourist if his support will be useful.

Her love of other dogs gives us hope that, with the right guidance, careful introductions and a suitable environment, she can enjoy those friendships again.

🏡 Ideal Home
We are looking for a new home for Gloria, preferably in the countryside or a quiet rural area, away from the constant pressures of city life. Her ideal family would offer a secure garden, access to quiet countryside walks, plenty of physical and mental activity, and the patience to continue her training.

Understanding the rescue dogs, particularly those who has lack of confidence in unfamiliar outside environment and leash reactivity, is essential.

A calm and confident medium resident dog could potentially be a wonderful companion.
