🏖️ IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING… 🏖️
For the first time in 7 YEARS of being permanently attached to the K9rehab Training Facility, I am officially taking an actual holiday away! 😂🙌 (last time I left the country was in 2019 for a whole 5 days, we started up in 2012 so I think we are allowed a short break before I go completely mad 🤪)
Yes, you read that correctly… I’m off! 🚐🍹 And before anyone panics, the world of dog training will continue to turn without me for a few days. 😉

🚨 Any urgent incidents or concerns with your dog: please contact your vet!
I’m going to attempt to switch off, relax and remember what it’s like to have a life outside of dogs… although I’m sure I’ll still end up talking about them somehow. 😂

Why are we still using outdated check chains or harnesses and being dragged around when there are better ways to communicate with our dogs? 🐕

A correction collar, when used correctly, can give you clear, fair communication through lead pressure something a check chain simply doesn’t do as well.

The goal isn’t to hurt or punish your dog. It’s to teach them what that pressure means, how to respond to it, and ultimately how to walk nicely on a loose lead.

And yes, some trainers will tell you correction collars are a “quick fix”.

But honestly… why would you want to be dragged around for months on end while waiting for a dog to magically figure it out, especially when you have a dog who isn’t particularly food motivated?

Teach the dog how to understand lead pressure. Build that communication. Be consistent.

Then instead of constantly battling the lead, you can get out and actually enjoy lovely, easy walks together. ❤️🐾

Sometimes the quickest route isn’t a shortcut, it’s simply clear communication and effective training & as I’ve said hundreds of times before, the tool is only as harsh as the hand that’s holding it!!
All of the dogs in the little clip pulled like a steam train, by communicating effectively it solves a lot of frustration and stops you dreading walking your dog 🐾🫶🏼

Reggie, a very handsome 14 month old Great Dane mix who has been working hard on his manners and what a difference a little polish can make! 💙

Reggie has learnt loose lead walking, recall, and how to control his impulses around other dogs. He’s a really happy, lovely boy who simply needed a little guidance to understand what’s expected of him.

He’s such a wonderful example of how, with patience, consistency and the right training these young dogs can really thrive. 🥰

When dealing with reactive dogs, every dog is different 🐾

We don’t believe in following a script or using a “one-size-fits-all” approach. We train the dog in front of us.

Every dog has different triggers, different experiences, different thresholds and different needs. Our training is tailored around the individual dog, while also teaching the handler how to understand and support them.

A big part of our work is building handler focus and engagement, so the owner can confidently communicate with their dog and teach them what is expected of them in different situations and circumstances.

We’re not simply looking to stop a reaction , we want to help the dog learn how to remain in a neutral state of mind, even when faced with something that may previously have caused a reaction.

And when they make the right choice? We reward it. 🙌

By reinforcing calm, neutral behaviour, we help the dog understand that they don’t always need to react, they can look to their handler, process the situation and make a different choice.

There is no magic script, no quick fix and no “every dog must be trained the same way” approach.

Your dog is an individual. Their training should be too. ❤️🐾

Happy Birthday to our favourite professional punchbag Ella “cough cough” …. I mean decoy! 🎂🐕🎈🎈🎈

Six years of faithfully volunteering to be bitten by dogs and dragged into my latest ridiculous schemes, patiently being dragged up and down the country as my emotional support staff. At this point, I’m not sure whether you’re incredibly dedicated or just spectacularly bad at making sensible decisions.

Against all the odds, we’ve managed six years without a single crossed word. That’s mainly because you’re too busy getting launched across the arena to argue with me.

Have an amazing birthday. Enjoy your day off from being abused 😂 normal service resumes Tuesday!

Rockie, a young, boisterous, reactive Rottweiler, has made incredible progress! 🐾 👏👏

Using e-collar training correctly and fairly, we were able to significantly reduce his reactivity and build reliable off lead freedom in public spaces. The result? Rockie now gets to enjoy the freedom he deserves, and his mum can finally relax and enjoy their walks together with confidence.

When owners are shown how to use this training aid properly, it can be truly life changing for both dog and handler. It’s not about punishment; it’s about clear communication, consistency, and creating a safer, happier life together.

Watching dogs like Rockie gain confidence and freedom is exactly why we do what we do. 💙
