One rewarding parts of physiotherapy and hydrotherapy is adapting treatment to suit the individual patient and watching their progress 💙🧡
When Benny first started sessions with us for his hip dysplasia, he wouldn’t allow handling or treatment due to his anxiety and pain levels. Pain was a huge factor in Benny’s reactions — when dogs are uncomfortable or painful, it can make new environments, people and treatment feel overwhelming and scary for them.
Working alongside the amazing Kate at inspiring tails, who also attended physio sessions with him, we slowly built up methods and routines that helped Benny feel safe and more comfortable.
We started with short sessions, minimal handling and small wins. Over time, Benny progressed from tolerating laser therapy to gaining the confidence to start hydrotherapy too 🐾.
Benny has come such a long way, and it’s been so rewarding to watch his confidence grow alongside his progress. The dedication from his owners has played a massive role in his progress!
Every patient is different and sometimes success isn’t about rushing treatment — it’s about adapting the approach to what works best for them. By making adjustments for anxiety, confidence levels, pain and handling tolerance, we can help make physiotherapy and hydrotherapy accessible for more dogs who may otherwise struggle.
Benny has reminded us that patience, teamwork and listening to the dog in front of you can make such a difference ✨
If you think your dog could benefit from physiotherapy or hydrotherapy, we’d love to help. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss how we can support your dog’s individual needs 💙🧡
