Today is International Dog Day, and I couldn't let the day pass without honouring the boy who started it all for me.
This is Marley. My original boy. My first fur baby. I had Marley for 10 years, and in that time he became so much more than a dog. He was my best friend, my constant and an absolute solid rock in my life.
He was there through so many chapters of my life. Through the good times, the difficult days, the changes, the chaos and everything in between. He didn't need to understand what was happening. He just needed to be right there with me.
And that's what made Marley so special.
No matter what life threw at me, he was there. My safe place. My companion. My shadow. The one who never judged, never asked questions and somehow always seemed to know when I needed him.
There is something incredibly special about the bond we have with our dogs. They become part of the fabric of our lives. They give us companionship, comfort, laughter, loyalty and a kind of love that asks for very little in return.
Marley may no longer be here beside me, but he will always be my first boy and he will always have a very special place in my heart.
So today, I'm celebrating him.
And I'd love to celebrate your dogs too.
Whether your fur baby is still beside you, running around causing chaos, stealing your seat and demanding snacks...Or whether they're no longer with us but forever in your heart.
Share a photo of them in the comments.
Tell us their name, and if you'd like to, tell us a little bit about them.
Let's fill the comments with the faces, memories and stories of the dogs who have loved us, supported us, shaped our lives and left paw prints on our hearts.
Because every dog has a story. And every one of them deserves to be remembered.
Happy International Dog Day 🧡🐾
