We absolutely love running our dog boarding business from our family home alongside our two young children and our adopted pug, Pixie. Creating a genuine "home from home" experience for the dogs in our care is something we take great pride in.
To make this work for everyone, we rely on owners being completely honest about their dog's habits and sleeping arrangements.
For over 20 years, we have never allowed dogs to sleep in our bedroom—mainly because we have pugs, and while they're adorable, they snore terribly! When we meet new customers and their dogs, we always make it very clear that dogs will sleep downstairs in the kitchen area. We always ask whether their dog can and will be happy with this arrangement.
Unfortunately, we've had a couple of occasions where owners have said this won't be a problem, only to mention at drop-off that their dog has recently started sleeping upstairs or even in their bed.
This simply isn't something we can accommodate, and we are always completely honest about this from the very beginning. All we ask in return is the same honesty from owners.
When a dog is distressed because they're used to sleeping upstairs, it can lead to a difficult and sleepless night for them, for us, and for our young children. Most importantly, it makes us sad to see a dog feeling unsettled.
Please, please, please be open and honest about your dog's routines and habits. It helps us provide the best possible care and ensures a happy, comfortable stay for your pet.
