🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾
Today, August 26th, we’re celebrating the wonderful, funny, loving and completely unique four-legged pups who bring so much joy into our lives❤️
National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by animal advocate Colleen Paige, with August 26th chosen because it was the day her family adopted their first dog when she was 10 years old. The day was created to celebrate dogs of every breed, background and personality, while also shining a light on adoption and the important place dogs hold in our lives
And somehow, this year’s National Dog Day feels a little more poignant 💫
Today we’re also remembering the incredible Dolly Parton, who passed away yesterday at the age of 80. Dolly had a wonderful way of reminding us that life isn’t just about being busy or chasing the next thing. One of her words of wisdom feels especially fitting today:
“Don’t get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”
Our dogs are rather brilliant at reminding us of exactly that.
They don’t care about the to-do list. They care about the walk. The cuddle. The muddy paw prints. The treat. The little moments of connection. They remind us to stop, breathe, laugh and appreciate what is right in front of us.
Every pup is different. Every personality is special. Every dog has their own little ways of showing us who they are, and we feel incredibly lucky to spend our days getting to know them and caring for what makes each one unique.
So today, we’re appreciating every wag, every woof, every sleepy face, every silly moment and every precious minute spent with our four-legged friends🐶
Here’s to making a life filled with the things that truly matter, and to our dogs for being such wonderful teachers of that lesson.
Happy National Dog Day from all of us! 🐾❤️
