With summer just around the corner, we’re all starting to get our gardens ready for BBQs and spending more time outside ☀️
But don’t forget about your dog too as they probably spend more time in the garden than anyone else!
Our gardens should be somewhere our dogs feel safe, relaxed, and able to just be dogs. Somewhere they can chill in the sun, sniff about, toilet in peace, and enjoy being outside with us.
There are loads of simple things you can do to make your garden more dog friendly:
🌿 Add lavender or other dog-safe plants for sniffy spots
🕳️ Create a digging area or even a sandpit
💧 Get a paddling pool for the warmer days
🌳 Make sure there are shady areas for them to cool off
🎾 Use the garden for enrichment, training, and sniffing games
🚧 And of course, make sure it’s secure
It’s also worth checking your plants, as some common ones like daffodils and tulips can be toxic to dogs.
Your garden doesn’t need to look perfect, your dog definitely won’t care about that. They just want somewhere safe and enjoyable to spend time with you 🐾
