🐾 A MASSIVE SHOUT-OUT TO THE FABULOUS DOG PEOPLE WHO PUT WELFARE FIRST! 🐾

I want to give a massive shout-out to all the responsible dog owners, dog walkers, trainers, behaviourists, groomers, physios and everyone working within the dog industry who have gone above and beyond during this heatwave to keep dogs safe, happy and mentally enriched. ❤️🐾

Yes, there have unfortunately been occasions where dogs have been put at genuine risk in the heat, and those situations absolutely need addressing. But I have also seen far too many photographs and videos being judged completely out of context.

One of my walker friends was actually photographed and criticised for “walking her dog in the midday heat” when she was simply taking her dog from her house to the car to attend a vet appointment.
We really do need to remember that a photograph rarely tells the whole story.

What I HAVE seen over these past few weeks is an incredible amount of dedication.

Owners and professionals getting up at 4:30/5am, carrying large water bottles, air cons fitted in vans, cooling mats, cooling scarfs and cooling coats, choosing shaded routes, checking temperatures constantly and completely rearranging their lives around what is safest for their dogs.

As a dog trainer & solo walker, I have had to rearrange classes & walks to first thing in the morning so that the dogs can still train, learn and have that important mental stimulation without putting them at risk in the heat.
It has meant postponed classes, disrupted routines, early starts and changes to work.
I know many dog businesses have taken a massive financial hit too😔.

So to all of my amazing clients, thank you for being so understanding and accommodating. ❤️

And to all the dog walkers I’ve seen out at 5am - you have been brilliant! There is something rather lovely about seeing everyone smiling and waving at each other while we are all bleary-eyed! 🐾

So this is a POSITIVE POST.

A huge thank you to every dog owner and dog professional who has put their dog’s safety, welfare and happiness before their own convenience🤩

I genuinely cannot imagine what it must be like to wear a fur coat in these temperatures, but our dogs have been incredibly lucky to have so many people putting their needs first.

And thankfully, it won’t be long before we’re all complaining about the rain, mud and miserable weather again! 😂 I definitely won’t be missing the 5 am starts though!

To every fabulous dog person who has adapted, sacrificed and put welfare first-
THANK YOU!🐾❤️

Isn’t he handsome ?! ❤️
I love this boy ❤️ He always gives me the best ever greeting!
Troup can sniff for England🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Our solo walks are often slow but he tells me every week where he wants to sniff & walk . So if you see me walking around in circles, you know why! It’s Troup’s walk so he dictates to me exactly where he wants to go on a sniffari! 🫶

Thank you to the owners who have been extremely accommodating next week having to rearrange their dog walks to the crack of dawn. Obviously your dogs safety & welfare is my priority.

Please never walk your dog in these extreme temperatures!
One missed walk won’t kill them but one walk in this heat could!

Up with the larks this morning walking some wonderful dogs before the heat kicks in 🔥🥵

What time were you out walking, or is it a chilled day at home for your dog today?

Please remember: missing one walk won’t kill them, but walking them in this heat could.

Hope you & your dogs are all managing to keep cool 😎☀️

Rupert is moving to Milan with his lovely owners.

I’ve known Rupert all of his life. He came to my training classes & has been a regular weekly walking client.
I get so attached to dogs that I see regularly. It’s easy to build a bond with them when you see them every week. He’s the most amazing character and I have such a fabulous greeting from him each week.

I hope he continues to live out his best years happily in Milan ❤️
Stay safe Rupert 🥰

What amazing weather we are having this beautiful bank holiday weekend 😎☀️

My girls are clearly not thinking straight as they think lying in the sun is a great thing to do! 🙈
Anyone else’s dog like to sunbathe?! 🐶☀️

I’ve had to keep my girls inside during the hottest parts of the day to stop them baking themselves, with occasional trips out to the pool to cool off 💦
Although they’ve already popped two paddling pools because they love digging in the water, so I’ve had to resort to a small hard plastic one instead! 🤦‍♀️😂

Hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine and keeping your dogs cool and safe ❤️

‼️ For the welfare of your dogs, I’ve made the decision to cancel this week’s group training classes (Sunday morning class will still go ahead as temperatures are dropping by the weekend).

Thank you all so much for being so understanding, and also to my solo dog walk clients who have been incredibly accommodating by moving walks to very early starts. It’s very much appreciated for me to be able to run my small business smoothly ☺️

I will be in touch with owners tomorrow for Wednesday and Thursday walk times should the temperature still remain high on these days.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
