We have had our first visits with Bea and we think it went pretty well. Daisy needed her evening medication which she took really well even though Bea was worried she wouldn't come over to Bea to take it. But she nailed it! Such a good girl! As a reward Daisy had some yummy treats which she happily shared with her sister Bella. Bella is very anxious around strangers and she doesn't like being approached. She was getting better and better each day though, visible getting more used to Bea and even joining in with some play time and having snacks. On the first visit she had those big 'nervous' looking eyes but then on the last visit her eye gaze softened up a bit and she didn't seem so tense. However, even though Bella made progress feeling more relaxed Bea respected her boundaries and did not approach. If a cat is anxious it is important for them to feel safe. It is crucial for them to feel that Bea is not going to do anything Bella isn't comfortable with, only then she may feel safe enough to approach Bea herself, if she wishes, but there will be no pressure to rush this. She will bond with Bea in her own time. Daisy on the other hand was Bea's best friend the minute Bea got the toys out and treats, she then wanted snuggles right away.
