Our teaching dogs never cease to amaze us with the empathy, patience, and support they offer to other dogs.
Here is Bodie, one of our incredible teaching dogs, working with 10-month-old Dylan. Like many adolescent dogs, Dylan is at that teenage stage where guidance from another dog can be invaluable.
While we can use food reinforcement to teach skills and encourage alternative behaviours, we cannot teach canine communication in the same way. Dogs have their own language, and learning how to communicate appropriately with other dogs is an important part of their development.
Carefully selected teaching dogs like Bodie can help young dogs build confidence, improve their social skills, and learn how to navigate interactions in a way that humans simply cannot replicate.
The best teacher for dog to dog interactions is another dog.🐾
