🎃 HALLOWEEN THROUGH YOUR DOG'S EYES 🐾
Halloween is nearly here, with Bonfire Night following close behind. 🎆
For us, it's a time for dressing up, decorations, trick-or-treaters and celebrations. But have you ever stopped to consider how our dogs experience it all?
A ringing doorbell, unfamiliar faces, children wearing masks, excited voices and unexpected fireworks can be a lot for a dog to process.
And sometimes, the signs that they're uncomfortable are much more subtle than we realise.
A quick lick of the lips, a change in posture, turning away or suddenly becoming still can all be ways a dog communicates discomfort.
But remember, one signal doesn't tell the whole story. We need to look at the whole dog and what's happening around them.
I'm not against dressing dogs up. Some are perfectly comfortable wearing outfits, while others would much rather not. The important thing is recognising the difference and respecting their choice.
This Halloween, take a moment to see the world through your dog's eyes.
Give them space when they need it, somewhere safe to retreat and the freedom to say no.
Because understanding our dogs isn't just about training them. It's about listening to what they're telling us.
