From puppy school to the big girl grooming table! 🎓🐾💕

Look who’s all grown up! 🥹

Gorgeous Nellie the Schnoodle was back in for her pamper, and this little lady holds a rather special place in my heart!

Nellie was one of the very first puppies to complete my six-week Pawsitive Start programme, where we gradually introduced her to the sights, sounds and sensations of grooming through gentle, positive experiences. 🐶✨

And now? She’s graduated to her regular adult grooms, and I couldn’t be prouder of how far she’s come! 💕

Nellie arrived full of excitement, ready to say hello and dish out her usual generous helping of kisses and cuddles. 🥰

She’s an absolute sweetheart in the bath, but when it comes to drying and brushing, Miss Nellie has one very specific requirement…

She must be seated on my lap. 😂

Apparently, the salon comes with a complimentary human armchair, and Nellie has decided she’s entitled to use it!

Once we’re on the grooming table, though, she’s such a good little girl. She stands beautifully while I work, and this time she was SO relaxed that she actually fell asleep with her little chin resting in my hand! 🥹💤

Her lovely humans also deserve a big shout-out! They do a fantastic job brushing and maintaining her coat between appointments, meaning Nellie always arrives completely free of matting. 🌟

That home care makes such a difference, allowing us to concentrate on a comfortable, positive groom rather than tackling tangles.

We kept to her usual short, tidy style, bringing out that gorgeous little teddy bear face while keeping everything practical and manageable. ✂️🛁💕

This is exactly why I love the Pawsitive Start programme so much.

Seeing a puppy progress from those first gentle introductions to becoming a confident, relaxed adult who feels comfortable enough to have a little snooze during her groom is incredibly rewarding.

And Nellie is such a lovely example of what patience, consistency and teamwork between groomer and owner can achieve. 🐾💕

You’re an absolute little treasure, Nellie. From puppy cuddles to grown-up grooming naps, it’s been such a pleasure watching you grow! 🥰🐶💕

When your mum’s a dog groomer and you STILL can’t escape bath day! 😂🛁🐾

Meet Daisy, my very own six-year-old Boxer, occasional salon supervisor, professional couch potato and part-time lunatic! 💕

Now, at six years old, Daisy has mellowed somewhat. These days, she’s quite content to spend most of her time horizontal, perfecting the fine art of doing absolutely nothing.

But don’t let that fool you. There’s still a fully functioning Boxer lunatic lurking beneath that sleepy exterior! 🤣🐶

Just ask my brother Colin or my partner Dave. The moment either of them appears, all remaining brain cells promptly evacuate and Daisy launches into her favourite pastime… enthusiastically nibbling their ears! 👂😂

Anyway, it was finally Daisy’s turn on the grooming table!

And BOY did she need it!

Despite having a short coat, she’s currently shedding enough hair to give a husky a run for its money. Honestly, I think I could have constructed a second Boxer from the amount of coat coming out! 🐕❄️

Fortunately, Daisy is a very accommodating girl when it comes to grooming. She doesn’t particularly enjoy it, but she doesn’t put up a fuss either. She simply lies there, looking thoroughly unimpressed while I get on with the job.

The face of a dog who knows exactly who to complain to… and unfortunately, it’s the same person holding the shampoo. 😂

This groom was actually a rather special one, though. 💕

It’s Daisy’s first proper bath since rupturing her cruciate ligament, undergoing surgery and working through hydrotherapy as part of her recovery. She’s been through quite a lot, so it was lovely to finally give her a good pamper again. 🥰

And while we’re sharing Daisy facts, you might notice she’s missing a toe on her front right paw. She lost it to cancer, so she’s technically running on a slightly reduced paw package these days! 🐾

Between that and her knee surgery, she’s certainly had her fair share of veterinary adventures, but she’s still my gorgeous, goofy girl.

She might spend most of her days impersonating a sofa cushion, but I wouldn’t change her for the world. 💕

Love you, Daisy Doo. Even if you are currently shedding enough hair to insulate the entire salon! 🐶🖤🐾

Every great singer needs an audience… and apparently mine has four paws! 🎶🐾😂

Meet the very handsome Woody, a Working Cocker Spaniel who was back in for his regular pamper at Snout & Style! 🤎

You might recognise the family resemblance, because Woody is none other than lovely Jessie’s brother! 🥰🐶

Much like his sister, Woody arrives bursting with enthusiasm, doing his excited laps around the salon with his trusty emotional support toy never far away. Apparently, there’s no such thing as a quiet entrance in this family! 😂💕

But while Jessie settles down and quietly enjoys her groom, Woody has a slightly different approach…

He provides the entertainment! 🎤🤣

From start to finish, Woody likes to serenade me with his own personal soundtrack. A little singing here, a little commentary there, and the occasional wiggle just to keep me on my toes!

I’m not entirely sure what he’s singing about, but he certainly has plenty to say! 🎶😂

Despite his musical performances, Woody is a lovely boy to groom, and we kept to his usual practical style. Nice and short all over, while keeping those gorgeous longer ears and his little mop of hair on top. ✂️🛁✨

Perfect for a busy Cocker who has far more important things to do than worry about his hairstyle!

And once the final touches were done? Well, that was Woody’s cue for the grand finale!

A celebratory round of salon zoomies, followed by a very enthusiastic reunion with his sister Jessie! 🐾💨💕

Two gorgeous Cockers, two very different grooming personalities, and never a dull moment!

You’re an absolute character, Woody, and I wouldn’t have you any other way! 🤎🐶🎶

From bouncing bundle of beans to perfect little lady! 🤎🐾

Gorgeous Jessie the Working Cocker Spaniel was back in for her regular pamper, and as always, she arrived with enough enthusiasm to power the entire salon! 😂💕

Jessie is one of those dogs who just radiates happiness. Full of beans, always excited, and never without her beloved toy proudly carried around in her mouth! 🧸🐶

But here’s the funny thing about Jessie…

The moment it’s time for her groom, someone apparently flicks the OFF switch! 😂

Our excitable little whirlwind transforms into the calmest, most cooperative girl, standing beautifully while I get to work. Honestly, you’d never believe it was the same dog! 🥰

Jessie spends plenty of time exploring the great outdoors, investigating bushes, charging through grasses and generally enjoying all the adventures a Cocker Spaniel could wish for! 🌿🐾

So her grooming style is all about keeping things practical while still looking gorgeous.

We usually keep her body nice and short, leaving those lovely ears and her little mop of hair on top. However, last time we took her ears shorter too, as they were becoming magnets for all those pesky prickles and seeds hiding in the undergrowth!

Now that particular season has passed, we’re going to start growing her beautiful ears back out again. ✂️💕

It’s a lovely example of how grooming can be adapted to suit a dog’s lifestyle and the changing seasons. Sometimes practical wins over pretty, but there’s no reason we can’t have both! 🛁✨

And once her pamper was complete? The OFF switch was firmly back ON, and off she went, proudly prancing around in all her freshly groomed glory! 😂💃

You’re such a joy to have in the salon, Jessie. Never lose that wonderful enthusiasm for life! 🤎🐾💕

One Labrador, one bath, and approximately 47 tonnes of black hair! 🖤🐾😂

Say hello to gorgeous Billy the Black Labrador, who came in for his very first visit to Snout & Style for a much needed deshedding session! 🛁✨

What an absolute sweetheart this boy is! 🥰

Billy took everything in his stride. With the grooming table and bath lowered for him, he happily hopped straight on and in without a second thought. No fuss, no hesitation, just a lovely, happy Labrador ready for his pamper!

There was, however, one tiny disagreement…

Billy had decided that the VERY edge of the bath was the perfect place to stand. Unfortunately, this meant most of the water was going everywhere except where I wanted it! 💦😂

Trying to persuade him to move further back was rather like trying to relocate a small mountain. A very polite, very handsome, completely immovable mountain! 🤣

And then came the HAIR. 😳

Black hair in the bath, black hair clogging the drain, black hair floating through the air… I think I may still be finding bits of Billy next Christmas! 😂

Goggles and mask were absolutely mandatory for this particular fluff explosion!

Throughout the entire process, Billy was such a good boy, happily standing there and letting me get on with the job.

And when Mum arrived? The wiggle bum was activated, followed by a very proud little prance to show off his freshly pampered self! 🥹💕

You were an absolute pleasure to have in, Billy! 🖤🐾

🐾 Meet Ember, our newest Pawsitive Start pupil! 🖤🐶

At 7 months old, gorgeous Labradoodle Ember is a little older than the puppies we usually welcome onto our 6 week Pawsitive Start programme.

But here’s the thing: it’s not about age, it’s about confidence! ❤️

Ember is a nervous little lady who has never experienced a full professional groom before. Rather than throwing her straight into a bath, introducing noisy dryers and expecting her to understand what’s happening, we’re taking things at HER pace.

🐾 Session One: Exploring the Big Scary World of Grooming!

Today was all about building trust, making positive associations and showing Ember that the grooming salon isn’t such a scary place after all!

Her lovely humans stayed with us for this first session while we:

🐶 Explored the salon and all its interesting sights and sounds.

🐶 Introduced the grooming table at its lowest height, allowing her to investigate and get comfortable without any pressure.

🐶 Did the same with the bath, letting her explore this strange new contraption at her own pace.

🐶 Introduced a few grooming tools, keeping everything gentle, relaxed and rewarding.

🐶 Had plenty of playtime, praise and positive reinforcement!

And somewhere along the way, Ember decided she was comfortable enough to treat us to the most hilarious tucked-bum scoot zoomies! 🤣💨

I’d say that’s a pretty fabulous first day!

🐾 What’s next for Ember?

During session two, Ember will spend a little longer with me without her humans. We’ll revisit everything we explored today, reinforce those positive experiences and, if she’s comfortable, start introducing movement to the grooming table and bath, along with her first gentle introduction to water.

No rushing. No forcing. No overwhelming her.

Just small, manageable steps towards becoming a confident, happy dog who understands what’s expected during grooming.

🏡 And the learning doesn’t stop when they leave!

Each week, Ember’s humans receive a PDF homework guide with simple exercises to practise at home, reinforcing what we’ve introduced in the salon.

Because successful grooming isn’t just about what happens on my table. It’s a team effort between groomer, dog and owner! ❤️

Pawsitive Start isn’t about getting a puppy groomed as quickly as possible. It’s about teaching them that grooming is something they can feel safe and comfortable with for the rest of their lives.

And for dogs like Ember, who need a little extra reassurance, that’s worth every minute. 🐾

Welcome to Snout & Style, beautiful girl! 🖤

Sweet little Harley the Border Terrier was back in for her regular pamper, and honestly, I think she might just be the most chilled little lady on the grooming table! 💕

Harley is such a calm, gentle soul. No fuss, no drama, no strong opinions to share. She simply stands there, patiently waiting while I work my magic. 🥰

Honestly, grooming Harley is a bit like grooming a statue, albeit a very cute, slightly hairy one! 😂🐶

Her mum likes to keep things practical, so we went for her usual short clip with a lovely tidy face, bringing those gorgeous little features back out from beneath all that fluff! ✂️🛁✨

But here’s the funny thing about our quiet, dignified Miss Harley…

The moment her groom is finished, the statue comes to LIFE! 🤣

Suddenly, all that carefully conserved energy is unleashed in a glorious case of the post-groom ZOOMIES! Apparently, standing still for so long requires a rather enthusiastic celebration afterwards! 💨🐾

You’re such a little sweetheart, Harley. Always an absolute pleasure to have you in the salon! 💕✂️

Handsome Gino the English Show Cocker was back in for his regular groom, and I genuinely lost it when I finished his blow dry and looked at him. 😂

Tell me that hair isn’t giving Kevin from Kevin & Perry. The teenage curtains. The sulky stance. The general air of “this is SO unfair.” 🤣🐾

Fortunately for Gino, his mum has very specific instructions for his groom: as short as possible everywhere, but DO NOT touch the fabulous top knot! ✂️

So off comes all the fluff, leaving him lovely and short, practical and easy to maintain, while his crowning glory remains firmly intact. 👑

And just LOOK at the transformation! From stroppy 90s teenager to a very distinguished gentleman with a rather spectacular ponytail. 😂💕

Never change, Gino. That top knot is part of your identity now. 🐶✂️🐾

Look who came bounding through the new salon doors! 🐾✨

Gorgeous Berkley the Terrier mix was back for his regular groom, and apparently a change of premises hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm for coming to see me! 😂

He came racing in with all the joy in the world… right up until he ran into the groom room and spotted the bath.

Joy: cancelled. Betrayal: immediate. 🛁😑

Thankfully, Berkley is such a chilled little gentleman and, as always, was an absolute pleasure to groom. He does have some opinions about having his nails done though, which he very politely communicated with a gentle little nibble. Message received, sir. 😂🐶

After his usual groom and a good tidy up, all memories of the terrible injustice he had suffered were quickly forgotten. The moment Mum arrived, off he went, proudly prancing over to show her just how handsome he looked! 💕

Always a pleasure having you in, Berkley, and lovely to have one of my regular faces come through the doors of the new salon! ✂️🛁🐾

🐾✂️ Well… tomorrow’s the day! ✂️🐾

Tomorrow I officially open the doors to the new Snout & Style salon and welcome my first clients into our new home!

After a slightly unhinged few weeks of painting, plumbing, electrics, flooring, moving things, changing my mind, moving them again, and generally spending money like I have Beyoncé’s bank account… WE’RE READY. 😂

Well.

The important bits are ready.

There is still painting to finish, pretty things to add and approximately 746 little jobs that apparently only become visible the second you think you’re finished. But the bath works, the grooming table is in, the dryers are ready and tomorrow there will officially be dogs through the door. 🐶🛁✂️

And that feels pretty freaking huge.

The last couple of years have been a bit of a rollercoaster, so having somewhere that is mine, building it from what was essentially an empty unit into my own little salon, and creating something completely independently means more to me than I can really put into words.

I built this. It’s mine. And tomorrow it opens. 🥹❤️

A massive thank you to my brother, Colin, my partner, Dave and my kids, who have helped, carried, fixed, painted, listened to me panic, tolerated the chaos and probably heard the words “I just need to do ONE more thing” far too many times. 😂

📍 You can now find Snout & Style on Howfield Farm, Howfield Lane, Canterbury, in the same courtyard as East Kent Timber

Just a little heads-up for everyone visiting: we’re located on a working farm and timber yard, so please be mindful of vehicles and machinery when arriving, keep dogs on leads at all times and use the allocated Snout & Style parking spaces.

🐾 Bookings are now open at the new salon!

If your pup is due a pamper, send me a message on Facebook or WhatsApp on 07346 003621.

Now I suppose I should go finish those 746 jobs before tomorrow… 😆

See you at the new Snout & Style! 🐾❤️
