The Association Of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT) is specialist clinical inter Animals, like people, respond to physiotherapy.

The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT) is a Clinical Interest Group of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and represents the interests of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy. The purpose of physiotherapy is to restore and maintain mobility, function, independence and performance. ACPAT members are fully qualified Chartered Physiotherapists (MCSP's) who have also trained in physiotherapy and rehabilitation for animals.

Mark Lowrie - Veterinary Specialist in Neurology.

Mark Lowrie is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and has worked in small animal practice before completing an internship at the Royal Veterinary College. He went on to undertake a residency in veterinary neurology at the University of Glasgow, where he also earned a Master’s degree focusing on steroid-responsive meningitis-arteritis in dogs.

Mark’s clinical and research interests centre on movement disorders, including involuntary muscle contractions, reflex epilepsy, inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system, and feline neurology.

He is a Director of Movement Referrals: Independent Veterinary Specialists, where he leads the organisation’s second referral hospital in the Midlands, UK. Mark also serves as a veterinary consultant to the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) and was named Petplan Vet of the Year in 2022.

Ane Uriarte - Veterinary Neurology Specialist.

Ane is a Veterinary Neurology Specialist (Dip ECVN, FRCVS, EBVS® and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Neurology) with extensive international experience in both academic and private clinical settings across the United Kingdom, France, and the United States.

She’s the founder of Neuronavet, an online neurology educational and consultancy platform providing remote specialist advice, as well as content through social media channels ( and Neuronavet), where complex neurological cases and treatment approaches are shared with the professional community.

She is also the former Head of Neurology Services in large referral hospitals, with a strong background in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing high caseloads of advanced neurological disorders. And has extensive experience in both medical and surgical neurology, including complex and referral-level cases.

And is actively involved in international education, regularly lecturing, teaching, and performing advanced neurosurgical procedures worldwide. She os recognised for a practical, case-based teaching approach and contribution to continuing education in veterinary neurology.

Her areas of interest include advanced neurosurgery, CSF disorders, and innovative pain treatment strategies in small animal neurology.

Jill qualified as a Physiotherapist at Newcastle Upon Tyne Polytechnic in 1988 and as Veterinary Physiotherapist via the University of Liverpool course in 2014 where she completed a PG Dip.

She has an interest in all things neurological and is passionate about using evidence from neuroscience to inform better standards of neurorehabilitation in people and dogs.

Jill has worked in many neurological specialties including spinal injuries, neurosurgery, stroke rehab and more recently neuromedicine where she was clinical lead physiotherapist for MS. She developed a physiotherapy led symptom management clinic for people with MS(PwMS), the first of its kind in the NHS and won funding from the MS Society to develop physiotherapy services for PwMS in Leeds.

Currently, Jill runs her own canine practice and is also based 1 day a week in a rehabilitation centre which has access to hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, vet nurse and vet input, having recently decided to focus on canine rehabilitation. She works alongside several local referral centers and first opinion vets and believes strongly in working as a multi- disciplinary team.

Outside of work, she loves yoga, reading and pottering around the Yorkshire Dales with her rescue Springer Spaniel Star, whilst trying to keep her from being injured from spanielling too hard.

Colin Driver - Specialist Veterinary Neurologist & Neurosurgeon.

Colin is a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Neurology and has worked in speciality referral practice for 16 years. He has helped to establish three different neurology services and has served as clinical director of two large referral hospitals. He is an RCVS fellow by meritorious contribution to clinical practice. Colin is based at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists in Alton, Hampshire, and is a visiting senior lecturer at the University of Surrey. Colin has published over 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers and textbook chapters; his main clinical interests are the management of IVD-related causes of spinal pain in dogs, spinal fusion, and minimally invasive spinal surgery. Colin is a pioneer of the emerging field of endoscopic spinal surgery for dogs.

Ticket bookings have now been extended to Friday 1st May giving delegates one week to complete the required online learning before the revised date for the classroom training on Friday 8th May at the Herongate Club, Charnham Park, Hungerford, RG17 0YU.

Being trained in animal first aid offers many advantages for small animal physiotherapists and hydrotherapists.

Key benefits include:
• Increased Knowledge and Clinical Skills enabling therapists to manage emergency situations safely and with greater confidence. For example, if faced with an animal showing signs of cardiac or respiratory distress, an animal having a seizure, or simply an animal who presents to an appointment with a minor injury, but the pet carer requests guidance about how to deal with it.
