A while ago, I went to help a lovely family say a very dignified goodbye to their handsome boy Jasper. He was a beautiful natured dog, who loved everyone he met and made us all smile when he came to visit. His last day was so peaceful and calm, in his own home, surrounded by love.
Jasper's family kindly sent me a heartfelt tribute to their last day with him, which I'm very grateful to receive. They also gave me permission to share their experience and one of their favourite photos of Jasper;
FROM ANDREW & LISBETH:
One of the hardest things in the life as an owner of a pet is to accept that the time will come when you have to say, ‘Goodbye’.
We wanted a vet to come to our home and with respect and dignity help us let our beloved pet depart this earth.
We, thankfully, found that in Laura Strain BVSc MRCVS and her company Peaceful Pets.
She had been part of White Cross Vets here in Liverpool and treated our pet several times including investigative surgery.
When we contacted her she listened to our wishes and came with some helpful suggestions which we took on board.
At the decided time she came with a calm and loving manner, helped us to say ‘Goodbye’ in a way that befitted the relationship we had had with our beloved pet.
She helped us in a way that will remain in our thoughts and hearts forever, also, because we got a vial with a tuft of his hair and prints of his paws.
We wanted a calm and relaxed but loving farewell, which was exactly what she gave us.
She let us lead and was so understanding and caring in our grief, taking the drawings our grandchildren had made for our pet and ensuring that they were part of his cremation.
Within barely a week we had his ashes back and the proof of cremation delivered to our home, along with the aforementioned treasures.
We cannot recommend Laura Strain enough.
She was thoroughly professional and caring and NOT extortionate in her pricing.
We would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat.
Thank you, Laura, for a fit and perfect service at a very difficult time.
This was a true account of our experience of Peaceful Pets - Home Euthanasia.
Sincerely,
Rev Dr Andrew & Mrs Lisbeth Cheatle
