Our dog session is in full swing, and the pups are loving their brand-new toys, plenty of playtime,From zoomies in the rain to tail wags in the sunshine, every day brings something exciting.

Training a young puppy in agility is about so much more than teaching obstacles 🐾

As this little spaniel learns confidence, focus, and movement through agility work, the adult dogs naturally begin to follow, observe, and reinforce calm social behaviours around them. Dogs learn incredibly well from each other, and working together helps build communication, patience, and engagement within the group.

Spaniels in particular are exceptionally intelligent and highly responsive when around their own breed. Their natural drive, sensitivity, and eagerness to work really shine in a social training environment like this — making agility both mentally stimulating and incredibly rewarding to watch.

There’s so much more happening here than just dogs having fun in a ball pit 🐾

For spaniels especially, enrichment activities like ball pits are incredibly beneficial. Spaniels are intelligent, energetic working breeds that thrive when both their minds and bodies are engaged. Exploring different textures, scents and movements encourages natural problem-solving skills, builds confidence and provides healthy mental stimulation — all while burning energy in a positive way.

What’s also lovely to see is how spaniels feed off each other’s excitement and confidence. They are naturally social dogs who often thrive in group environments, learning from one another through play, exploration and interaction. Watching them encourage each other and share in the excitement is a great example of healthy social development and breed fulfilment.

You’ll also spot the dachshunds enjoying quality time with their dog walker. Building a strong bond between dogs and their walker is so important, particularly for breeds that can be sensitive or prone to separation anxiety. Trust, consistency and positive interaction help dogs feel secure, relaxed and confident when away from home. These relationships become an important part of a dog’s routine, emotional wellbeing and overall happiness.

Training “stay” isn’t just about getting your dog to pause—it’s about building focus in the middle of real-life distractions.

We start simple: ask for a sit or down, give the “stay” cue, take one small step back, then return and reward before they move. Gradually, we increase three things:
• Distance (how far you go)
• Duration (how long they hold it)
• Distractions (what’s happening around them)

The key is to only make one thing harder at a time. If you add distractions—like another dog moving, a toy nearby, or outdoor noise—you keep the distance and duration easy so they can succeed.

If they break the stay, it’s not “wrong”—it just means we asked for too much, too soon. Reset, make it easier, and help them win.

What you’re seeing here is the result of that process: calm minds, steady positions, even with everything going on around them. That’s real training—not just obedience, but self-control.

These enrichment session are all about scent work with a fun twist 🐾

Instead of the usual scent searches, we hid the scent on balls scattered through the grass. This encourages the dogs to use their natural sniffing instincts while also adding an element of play and problem-solving as they hunt for each one.

Scent work is one of the most powerful forms of enrichment for dogs. It taps into their natural abilities, helping to:
• Build confidence (especially in more nervous dogs)
• Provide mental stimulation that can be just as tiring as physical exercise
• Encourage focus and independent thinking
• Reduce stress and promote calm behaviour

By turning it into a game with balls, we’re also adding movement, excitement, and a rewarding “find” at the end 🐶

You’ll see in the video how engaged and determined they are — this is their brains working at full power!
