Meet - Steve - Vet

As many of you will already be aware Steve joined the team at Brannam Vets towards the end of July.

Steve brings with him a wealth of experience and we are delighted that he has joined us from another local veterinary practice. This addition to the team will allow us to continue to grow the practice.

A little about Steve in his own words:

Having grown up on a dairy farm just outside Exeter, I always knew that I wanted to be a vet.

After graduating from Cambridge in 1994, I started my career in mixed practice in Witheridge. After continuing as a mixed practitioner for a few years in South Devon, I then decided to concentrate solely on small animal practice.

I worked for the PDSA in Plymouth for over 16 years gaining a wealth of experience in surgery and medicine.

Since returning to North Devon I have developed an interest in dentistry and am currently undertaking a post graduate certificate in this subject.

In my spare time I enjoy running and walking the south west coast path. Although it is fair to say that a lot of it is devoted to my ‘Fur-kids’- my 2 mad spaniels who run me ragged but are always making me smile.

Certified Cat Friendly 🐈 🏆

Those of you who have been into the practice over the last 6 weeks or so will have noticed our new cat cubbys in our waiting room.

This provides a clear segregation between the dog and cat waiting areas and a screened place for our feline friends to wait away from prying canine eyes.

This is also the final step in securing Cat Friendly status from the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) which we have recently been awarded.

🐶 More Puppies 🐶

This gorgeous litter of 10 puppies came in for their health check, first vaccination and to be microchipped last week.

Relaxing at the vets!! 🐶

This is Lenny who came in to see us for his welcome visit at the end of last month and took a nap in reception whilst his owner signed him up to the Brannam Family Plan.

Meet - Lottie - Vet Nurse

Our team is growing! We are delighted to announce that our team of Vet Nurses is now 5 strong.

Lottie joins us on her return to work from maternity leave having previously worked within a local veterinary practice.

A little about Lottie in her own words:

Hi, I’m Lottie! I have just joined Brannam Vets following maternity leave after welcoming my first son, Sunny. I’m so happy to be back doing a job I genuinely love.

I’ve always had a passion for animals and conservation, which led me to complete a BSc in Zoology. My love of travel then took me around the world, where I volunteered on street dog sterilisation and welfare projects— these experiences remain so close to my heart. It was during one of those adventures in Thailand that I rescued my two dogs, Minnie and Joss, who made the journey home with me and are now very much part of the family.

Six years ago, I settled in beautiful Devon, which quickly became home, and then retrained as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

One of my favourite things about being a veterinary nurse is that no two days are ever the same. I love getting to know each patient as an individual, supporting their owners, and helping make every visit as positive and stress-free as possible.

When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me at the beach with my family and dogs, hiking, running, or getting creative with a bit of origami!

🐶 Cute puppy alert!! 🐶

This is the very handsome Stanley who has been in to see us 3 times in recent weeks for his primary vaccination course.

The second photo is with nurse Tina receiving a post injection cuddle!

As a member of our Brannam Family Plan all of Stanley’s vaccinations and parasite treatment are included within the plan.
