No words spoken are more true than the below post from dog friendly ards and north down area!
Our sanctuary was put under scrutiny last week due to a person disgruntled about not getting a cat they wanted!
She went as far as to say our sanctuary was full of cats p*e and poo! We have cctv to prove this is not the truth! Obviously cats p*e and poo in their litter and unfortunately we do not have someone 24/7 waiting to clean after a cat! But we can assure you this is done several times throughout the day! She even went as far as to say one kitten in particular (Olive) was covered in fleas!
Well following a thorough examination with a very reputable vet’s in Enniskillen the cat in question had no signs whatsoever of any parasites! She is fully healthy and ready for her new home! Her post could stop this beautiful innocent kitten getting a home! Completely shameful!
All our kittens are wormed and flead on arrival and repeated during their stay as per veterinary advice!
We receive cats and kittens picked off the streets! And from farms from unwanted litters! These wee babies have been left out in the elements and so when they arrive often treatment is needed which they get immediately! Anyone who knows anything about rescue would understand this! But we can verify not one cat/ kitten in our sanctuary has fleas and we have all the vet reports to prove should anyone challenge it!
We are donated only by public donations and often us volunteers spend our own money on things for the sanctuary! We are not a Cattery or a cat hotel! We aren’t boarding kennels! We are a small sanctuary trying our best to rescue the unwanted and neglected furbabies in our community!
On Sunday we trapped 3 cats and 10 kittens! We are totally inundated and under resourced but still a volunteer went out in the early hours of Sunday morning and spent hours trapping these cats and their kittens! Nearly all our staff and loyal volunteers have foster kittens in their homes! Doing 2 hourly feeds and caring for sick kittens! No one sees that side of it, and the likes of these ppl in question who judge a rescue should be ashamed!
As per below post, it is the animals that is harmed by the lies and negativity! And what’s worse is people who join in and believe such lies and share or comment instead of reaching out to us and asking us. Or popping in to see for themselves!we welcome anyone to come and see how well our sanctuary is run!
We have had several rescues reach out to us with such lovely messages telling us they have experienced the same and not let these ppl define our rescue! They know nothing off rescue!
To all those so called animal lovers who shared and responded negatively to her post….where are your applications for volunteering or helping? Surely that should be your response instead of ridiculing a rescue trying their best! Or maybe open your homes up to unwanted, sick and neglected cats!
We sleep very well at night knowing the work we do, and the animals we continue to rescue everyday!

Taking to social media about an established animal rescue is harmful because rescues are usually trying to protect & help vulnerable animals with limited money, staff, and emotional capacity.
They rely on the advice from their vets not from the general public & though you might not agree with it taking to social media isn’t the answer.
Leave them to do what they’ve decided to do, that is dedicate their life to helping animals.
Think for a moment where would that animal be now if the rescue hadn’t stepped in?
Do they really need the bad review pile on from you & others?
Harassment can hurt both the people and the animals they care for.
Rescue workers are often unpaid or underpaid taking into consideration the hours involved and dealing with stress, neglect cases, and very difficult decisions 24/7 that i personally couldn’t handle, so they have to be admired.
Online attacks can damage trust and make adoptions much harder, it that what us as animal lovers really want?
Obviously REAL abuse or cruelty must be reported to authorities.
Also ensure you know & absorb the facts in the first place eg. Veterinary advice they have followed
If the cap fits, wear it. If you believe established rescues are getting it wrong, perhaps try running one yourself.
You’ll soon realise there isn’t a bottomless pit of money, every decision has consequences, and many are made based on veterinary advice from their own vets.
To those who are happy to criticise from behind a keyboard and encourage others to leave bad reviews or pile on just don’t bother & go do something useful with your time.
