What is tethering? 🐕

Tethering is something I use to help nervous, anxious and overwhelmed dogs learn to find calm and feel safe.

The idea is simple — sometimes a dog doesn't need more stimulation, commands or distractions. They need to learn that they can simply do nothing and relax.

The dog sits beside me and is ignored. There is no fuss, no constant talking and no trying to distract them from how they feel.

If they break the sit or turn away, I calmly put them back beside me.

The important part is consistency.

They have to face their emotions and learn that they are safe within our bubble. Over time, they begin to understand that they don't always need to react to everything around them.

They can switch off.

They can relax.

They can trust that I have control of the situation, so they don't need to.

Sometimes the biggest step forward for an anxious dog is learning that doing nothing is okay.

Been a little quiet on social media recently… and this goofball is the reason! 🐶❤️

This handsome boy came to me as a Board & Train for Freedom Angels Romania after being adopted and sadly returned. Somewhere along the way, he had been allowed to develop some habits that needed addressing, and he needed someone to show him how to become the great dog he has the potential to be.

And that’s exactly what we’ve been working on.

He’s already made some fantastic progress, although he still needs a little more confidence building. Once he finds that inner courage, I genuinely believe he’s going to be an amazing dog for the right person, couple or family.

He’s really special and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t thought about keeping him myself. ❤️

But if I did, I wouldn’t be able to open my home to the next dog who needs help and I’m sure there’s another one waiting in the wings who deserves that chance too.

This is why rescue work matters. Dogs can have a difficult start, develop behaviours that make them harder to rehome, and still have an incredible future ahead of them.

Sometimes they just need someone to believe in them, give them structure, guidance and confidence, just give them the opportunity to show everyone what they’re really capable of.

This boy has a future. We just need to help him find it. 🐾❤️

🐕 Reactive dog? I can help.

This dog was reactive around other dogs and would stop, lie down and refuse to move on walks.

After just one training session, we achieved a noticeable change — calmly walking past another dog, staying engaged with their owner and continuing the walk.

Reactive dogs can be trained. It’s about teaching them what to do instead and giving the owner the confidence to handle these situations.

One session. Real progress. 🐾

"You can't teach an old dog new tricks."

That's one of the biggest myths in dog training.

The truth is, dogs can learn throughout their lives. While older dogs may need a little more patience and training tailored to their abilities, they're just as capable of learning new behaviours and building better habits.

It's never too late to improve your dog's behaviour or strengthen the bond you share.

Don't let age be the excuse. Let it be the reason to start. 🐾

*** OWNER UPDATE ***

Thought you'd like to know that Paddy and I have just successfully completed our first Saturday morning adventure since February! Only to the canal but it's one of his favourite places and nice to see, and smell, different sights.
He was as good as gold on both legs of the car journey.

-

Thanks for the update.

I'm sure Paddy enjoyed seeing and sniffing somewhere different. I hope you both enjoy many more adventures together.

Dog training isn't just about teaching the dog, it's also about building your confidence and strengthening the bond between you two.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVEIW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely incredible! Chris was instrumental in helping us get over a bad habit that our four year old golden retriever Padawan had picked up; being afraid to get into the car. This car phobia started at the beginning of the year and despite several training sessions with another trainer, lots of treats and months of encouragement, we were slowly getting nowhere.

Chris to the rescue! Within one session Chris quickly identified the problem and devised a new regime and very importantly, helped us with lots of tips and tricks.

Now Padawan is very happy one his walks and gets into, and out of the car on command but with a smile on his face

Thanks so much Chris, very appreciative of your guidance and time. Looking forward to walking with our furry friend to see different sights for the first time in months.

Highly, highly recommended.!

(Ps, Padawan says thank you too!)

***Canceled Appointments***

Due to the hot weather forecast next week (25°C+), I'm unfortunately going to have to cancel my afternoon outdoor sessions. Working in those temperatures while wearing a fur coat will be dangerous for your dog's health and wellbeing.

Depending on the forecast, this may also continue into the following week if temperatures remain high. If that's the case, I'll be in touch as soon as possible to discuss alternative appointment times.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but your dog's safety and welfare will always be my top priority.

Thank you for your understanding.

What does it mean to be a dog fosterer? 🐾

It means opening your home and your heart to a dog who needs safety, patience, and love — sometimes for just a few weeks, sometimes longer.

It means helping them learn that not all humans let them down.
It means showing them what a warm bed feels like, what routine feels like, what kindness feels like.

It means celebrating the little wins…
The first tail wag.
The first time they relax enough to sleep deeply.
The first moment they trust you.

And yes, it means letting go when the right forever family comes along — knowing your goodbye became their new beginning.

Fostering doesn’t mean “just looking after a dog.”
It means changing a life.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this is your sign. There are so many dogs waiting for someone to believe in them until they can find their forever home. ❤️🐶

Diet and exercise play a huge role in your dog’s overall wellbeing. Feeding a good quality diet and making time for 1½–2 hours of daily exercise can help your dog feel happier, calmer and more balanced. A well-exercised dog is not only healthier, but also more relaxed and content at home.
