Johnny has been with us 4 months now.
His onward training is coming on really well, I have adjusted how we push through things he finds difficult.
The canter is available, but needs more jump and consistency, so the ground work is making a big difference.
Doing our first prelim next week and a combined training if that goes well.

Caruso is now 19 yrs old, Paul bred him with Jade Darby.
I trained him to AM, he didn’t compete much it was too stressful for him, but he taught me and gave me the confidence I needed to train Parker, who loves to compete.
He has always been a complete delight, to train, ride and handle.

Ridden by others sometimes and although forgiving and tolerant he refused to work if the rider was gripping through the knee or seat.
❤️
I retired him recently, he wasn’t lame or in pain I just felt it was time. I have kept his saddle and bridle and may have a walk round the field on him sometimes.

I struggled with this emotionally, realising he was getting old and I mourned the horse he once was. My first WB and baby, what a giant he is too at 18hh.

Never be afraid to do what feels right, remember all those wonderful memories.
My first baby horse. ❤️

Having Johnny has been surprisingly more fun than I could have ever imagined.
Friends ask after him all the time and there is always another story to tell.
He is no angel and the resting bitch face has now gone almost entirely.
BUT he is a pony devil 😈 at times.
1. Rolling when tied to the side of the lorry at a show.
2. Towing us about and giving us rope burn.
3. Standing on your toe when told not to tow us about.
4. Snacking on rides.
5. Refusing to move at a junction.
6. Walking round and round the mounting block.
These are just a few things, I know ponies are naughty and he is no exception.
Let’s all embrace the characters we have, even though mine are polar opposites.
I have to say my miniatures are better behaved than Johnny. 🤦‍♀️🤣

Parker and Johnny did hills today.
One likes hills at home so I had them made and the other likes a change of scenery on his hill. 😊

Johnny had his second dressage test today. With a 70 +% so an improvement.
He does still have a bit of attitude and riding through that is becoming less of a drama now.
You can see it in the video.
That’s ponies 🤣🤣

Johnny is finally cantering, we have worked hard, had him 3 months now, it’s been a great journey so far.
Out next Tuesday for dressage. ❤️
