Wags and Whiskers

Wags and Whiskers Attleborough based professional dog walking & cat feeding
** Overnight cat and dog sitting is limited to regular customers only ** Animals are just wonderful.

On my 8th birthday, after much pleading, NumNum the kitten popped out of a gift-wrapped shoebox and nearly 50 years so far of caring for animals began. From that day onwards, cats have always shared my home and heart. As an adult, financial responsibilities led me to a career with BT in various roles, predominantly in customer services. I then became a full-time Mum to two children. When I returne

d to work I joined a local boarding school as a Matron, supervising teenagers. All of which, I thoroughly enjoyed, but when my own children, now 27 and 24 became independent, I was able to really consider what I had always dreamt about. I enrolled with Easton College on a Level 3 extended diploma and studied full time for a year, gaining Distinction in Animal Science and Welfare, and during a business studies class, Wags and Whiskers was born. Before taking on any dogs to walk, I visited Buckinghamshire to complete a dog walking diploma with a highly respected Canine expert and L6 Behaviourist. Alongside, I studied Feline behaviour and psychology. I've continued to learn with IMDT, Canine Principles, and I am a member of a Foreign Rescue study group. Understanding Dog's body language, puppy behaviour, loose lead walking and recall are just some of the subjects that I've studied. Reading peer-reviewed books and watching numerous online seminars/webinars and presentations fill any free time I have. I'm always looking to further increase my knowledge. It's been 6 years since I started up and despite a pandemic, I have a thriving business with an excellent reputation and over 50, 5* reviews. My core values are determined by the Animal Welfare Act 2008 - the 5 freedoms.

1) Freedom from hunger and thirst
2) Freedom from discomfort
3) Freedom from pain, injury and disease
4) Freedom to express normal behaviour
5) Freedom from fear and distress

9 days & nights with the best boy 🐶

As a regular group doggie for several years, we already had a special bond but we've had such fun this past week or so, our love is even deeper now.

Early morning & evening walks, joining extra groups or walks during the day and play at home. Wonderfully behaved, your human Mum & Dad have every reason to be very proud. Such a sweet boy, initiating cuddles and resting your head on my lap 😍 Can't wait to see you again.

17 days, twice a day. Loving, playful, sweet & gorgeous.

Primarily an indoor cat with supervised garden play time of which we had at every visit due to the kind weather at the time. He enjoys keeping an eye on what's going on beyond the gate.

As many cats do, he loves a brush, all part of the care given as a professional. Brushing is highly beneficial to remove dead hair, prevents painful mats, minimise shedding and reduce the risk of hairballs.

Well, it definitely rained cats and dogs today!

Quite unbelievably these pictures were taken before the wet hammering we all received for the rest of the day.

Lots of energy, lots of fun, adorable!

Full of happy wags this week was my Besthorpe/Morley group.

All lovely dogs who not only share fun time with me together but often bump in to each other when on local lead walks with their owners. A sense of warm comradeship between them.

Another side of my 'job' is being able to introduce owners and their dogs that I have together.
Sharing a lovely walk, beneficial to both humans and canines.

Today we had a meet up at Gaymers and supported the owner of the youngest dog trusting him off lead for the first time. I was 100% confident he would make her proud & wasn't wrong. Accompanied by dogs with solid recall, he had great role models.

What an absolute superstar! Heart warming to see the connection he has with his owner & superb listening skills.

On little one, you are amazing!

Born with a potassium deficiency (hypokalemia), medicated 4x daily. Along with very limited, if any, sight, you have defied all odds and are still thriving.

The third year visiting & I've loved every minute spent with you. It's actually of benefit to you that I don't shut up as you know where I am 😁 We have great fun playing, toys with bells a favourite. And you always greet me asking for strokes, purring away.

Frank, Frankie, Frankleton 💔

As I try to come to terms with your passing, my thoughts are with your family who gave you an amazing devoted 16 years of love and care, and you gave them 16 years of being a true best friend, your presence bringing so much happiness and love in return. There are no words that can take away their pain but I'd like to think of you with the big smile that you always had and hope that your peaceful passing brings some comfort in this very sad time. I am very grateful for the absolute kindness shown to me always by your owners. It means a lot.

Thank you to Isabella who recommended me after she walked you and loved you lots too. I then became your dog walker 3x a week, for 6 years. I have been so very lucky to have had the time with you I have, treasuring every moment. Your cheeky grin, inquisitive head tilts, love of squeaky toys and back rubs. The giggles, one particular day discovering how fast a 12 year old JR can run, down a stream, on a hot day 🤣 You were adored by everyone that met you, brilliant with children and got on well with every dog that you met.

The paw prints left on my heart will never fade. Thank you Frank - love you & see you again one day x

Can I respectfully ask that people do not turn up on my doorstep for anything to do with Wags & Whiskers. My home is not my workplace.

In the 'little' time off I have I try... to switch off, and this is also my son's home. He is rightfully fed up of answering the door when relaxing after he's been at work all day & I'm not here.

It's also unfair to knock on my front door to demand an answer of my availability. Please message me & I'll reply as soon as I can. If dropping keys, please just post them, or as usual I'll collect.

Thank you for your understanding.
