So pleased I was able to help on Sunday! Loved meeting everyone and their beautiful doggies! Even saw one of my old walking buddies! 🐶
And my boy too! 🥰

Well that’s a wrap for our 2026 show!!
And wow what a show it was🥹

This year has exceeded all other years financially raising a wonderful £13,059.50✨✨✨

Our tiny team managed to pull off what we think was a wonderful day. And it wouldn’t have been possible without the people who took their time to help us out•

After our sound man cancelled 14 hours before the start, the fantastic Mark Anstead - Musician stepped up and saved the day! A rollercoaster of emotions to get there and we are so grateful for Mark•
Our normal van man wasn’t around so the amazing Domanic, Darnell Man With Van filled in last minute and made sure all of our things for the show were loaded up Saturday evening and delivered 7am Sunday morning!
Absolutely Anything Cleared took all of our rubbish at the end of the day, a regular superhero for our show•

Another disaster was our paramedics dropping out Saturday. The wonderful Barbara at Kismet Services and Kismet Training & Consultancy changed her plans last minute to ensure we had someone there all day Sunday

Thank you to Mel and Lena for their new Clymping tarot stall! A huge success! Our fabulous judges, Ben and Simon, we love having you along with our category judges❤️

And finally is all our amazing organisers and volunteers. Our two trustees Hazel and Sophie for organising the day along with Dom and Wendy doing so much to make the day possible.
Our volunteers on the day, from set up to working during the day and some who were with us for the whole day!

Where does this fit when you use slip leads, prong collars, shock collars, punishment etc???

I got talking to a lady today who years ago had been talked into aversive methods of training for her dog. By aversive I mean use of a shock collar.
Some trainers think it’s ok to inflict pain on your dog to get it to return.
This lady realised, thankfully, that this was not the right way to go. It made her feel bad as well as hurting her dog.

The trouble with these methods is they create a dog who is fearful, unpredictable.

Positive, reward based training builds confidence. Confidence you have the skills to work with your dog. And confidence in your dog that you won’t hurt him.

It creates a bond between a dog and his owner that no shock collar ever will.

Understanding Dog Training Tools: Why Kindness Matters

Educate Yourself – Choose Compassionate Methods...

Let’s dispel the myth of the saying ‘it’s not the tool, it’s how you use it’…

Many traditional dog training tools, such as slip-leads, prong- collars, and grot-leads, are specifically designed to tighten around a dog’s neck. Their purpose is to cause discomfort or pain, thereby discouraging unwanted behaviour. The simple truth is that these tools inflict distress – that is their intended function.

Shock-collars go a step further, delivering an electric current through the dog’s neck. This is meant to induce fear or pain in order to stop behaviours the owner finds undesirable. Again, the mechanism relies on causing suffering.
• Slip-leads and prong-collars are intended to cause discomfort.
• Shock-collars use pain and fear as deterrents.
• These methods don’t teach your dog what you want, only what to fear.

You don’t need a degree or scientific knowledge to understand that it’s never right to hurt or frighten your dog. Positive, reward-based training methods are not only effective but also foster trust and strengthen the bond between you and your pet.

Choose Positive Training

Next time you consider a training tool or technique, ask yourself: does it teach, or does it punish? Kindness and patience are the keys to a happy, well-behaved dog.

Let’s move away from outdated methods and embrace compassionate training for our canine companions.

Honey has heard there is a fun dog show at Millbrook on Saturday 9th May. She knows she can not enter this year but hopes to enter next year with her new family.
Honey has been enjoying time out of her kennel with a weekend foster family. She has received a glowing report.
🏠House trained.
🚗Travels well in the car.
🌟Excellent house manners.
👩‍🎓Super clever - knows sit, down, paw and wait (even when her favourite tasty kong is being offered).
⚽️Loves to play.
🐕Friendly with people and dogs on her walks.
