Not every dog is built for sitting still… and that’s okay. 🐾

One of the biggest mistakes a photographer can make is expecting every dog to fit the same mould.

By this point in Maximus’ shoot, we’d already asked a lot from him. He’d sat, stayed, focused on the camera and worked incredibly hard. But like any puppy, he still had plenty of energy left in the tank!

Rather than fighting against it, we adapted.

Instead of more static portraits, we turned that excitement into something magical, capturing Maximus charging straight towards the camera. The result? A photograph that perfectly reflects who he is at this stage of his life: fun, energetic and full of personality.

The best dog photography sessions aren’t about making dogs fit a plan. They’re about adapting the plan to fit the dog.

If you’d love photos that capture your dog’s unique personality, send me a message and let’s plan your session. 📸🐶 🐾

This is one of my favourite locations!

I’m so glad I managed to get this lovely photo of Maximus at Ludgershall Castle. Definitely had to move quick with this one as he was fully of puppy beans, never staying still for long!

Although I don’t advertise it as much I am still open to doing pet portraits like this one.

Comment below if you have a cute dog who’s this photogenic!

I like to start many of my shoots with an over the shoulder image like this one. 🐾

Not only does it create a beautiful connection between owner and dog, but it also helps keep the dog settled while I learn how they respond to me, my camera, and most importantly… my duck whistle.

This gorgeous working Cocker Spaniel puppy understood the assignment immediately. One quick whistle and I had full attention. 👀

These first few moments of a shoot tell me everything I need to know about how we’ll work together to create images you’ll treasure for years to come.

And when the dog cooperates from the very first shot? That’s always a bonus!

Comment below if your dog does this super cute head-tilt!

Now that small business week is over I’d like to share my gratitude for a recent opportunity that came my way when Mr Hadley Newman approached me about updating his headshot for the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence website.

We tried a range of different indoor and outdoor settings with a variety of different jacket and tie combinations.

I think we both agree this was our favourite. Simple but effective.

Comment below if your images are no longer a true reflection of you and your business and let’s have a chat to see if I can help.
