One of my favourite parts of this video isn’t even the recall — it’s the automatic check-ins when she first catches sight of the birds 👀✨

The moment she spots the birds, you can see her flick back to me first. That choice matters. That’s the foundation. A dog acknowledging the environment and still staying mentally connected to their handler.

For me, training isn’t about shutting down natural instincts. My whippet was bred to notice movement and want to chase — that drive is part of who she is. The goal is teaching her that engaging with me is just as valuable as engaging with the environment 💨

And that’s why I believe in using certain behaviours as jackpot/ life rewards for strong decisions. If she recalls beautifully off prey, sometimes the reward is being released back to run, explore, or safely engage with the world again. Coming back to me doesn’t always mean the fun ends 🍃 🐇 🌳

🌱 Neutral Dog Walk- Southmoor 🌱

7th June @ 3pm

I am excited to announce that I will be hosting my first neutral dog walk!

Why neutral organised dog walks are so beneficial 🐾

• Builds calm social skills
• Reduces anxiety around other dogs
• Helps reactive or nervous dogs gain confidence
• Creates positive experiences in a controlled environment
• Makes walks calmer and more enjoyable for dogs and owners alike

Dogs learn to co-exist calmly without the pressure of constant interaction — exactly how healthy socialisation should look ✨

Seeing lovely progress from this pair 🌟

Blu’s strength on the lead, combined with his reactivity, caused his owner to feel anxious about taking him out. Today’s session started in the garden, focusing on building solid foundations for loose lead walking. We then slowly transferred those skills into environments with increasing distractions…

When training, it’s so important to establish strong foundations in low-stimulation environments before building up gradually. This sets both dog and owner up for success and creates steady, lasting progress 🐾

🌟 Roody 🌟

Fear based reactivity takes time, patience, consistency and kindness to work through with dogs who struggle. Triggers can vary and how we approach the behavioural work must be tailored individually.

Roody here, struggles with strangers, unusual noises & scents… but today we had a session at a local garden centre, lots of triggers present, huge progress from where he was two months ago. I couldn’t be prouder of Roody & when he relaxed into this position off his own accord it showed just how far he has come 🐾

Why Is Structured Play So Important In A Dogs Life? 🐾

💝Increased Bond Between Dog & Handler💝
Your dog will learn that you are the gateway to fun! Focus & engagement in a variety of environments suddenly falls on you

🌀 Arousal & Impulse Control 🌀
Instead of being driven by excitement & impulse your dog learns how to, pause, think & listen before acting…

⚡️ Drive & Motivation To Work ⚡️
Can be used as an alternate to food reward in training, increasing enthusiasm & speed to perform due to the adrenaline which comes from the movement of the ball, tug, flirt pole etc.

🐾 Breed Specific Outlets 🐾
⭐ my favourite ⭐️ allowing dogs to express their selectively bred, innate behaviours gives them an outlet… how can you provide an outlet to tap into what your dog was originally bred for?… a bored, unemployed dog will likely find their own way to fulfil themselves resulting in a variety of behavioural issues

🌟 Client Progress 🌟

Huge well done to Enzo & Rohan, after our remote consultation at the start of the week, Enzo has made incredible progress on his loose lead walking & recall from distractions. Enzo struggles with his high prey drive & impulse control so we’re going back to basics, starting with the foundations to build trust & communication into the relationship between handler & dog 🐾

⭐ Recall Top Tips ⭐

• don’t over complicate- build a positive association to one cue at a time using high value rewards 🧀 🥓 🐟

• take it slow 🐌 time & consistency in ‘boring environments’ slowly building up distraction & distance 🌳 🍂 🐕

• fun fun fun, your pup should associate you with love & safety 💝 never punish for not ‘listening’- instead set your pup up for success 🌟

The art of engagement. Let’s raise well rounded puppies that are able to coexist in public spaces.

Uma loves people, but not everybody wants to say hello. I’m allowing her to watch, but she’s learning to control her impulses.

Lily & Maggie working on chaining behaviours in a distracting environment

Recall - automatic sit - eye contact

Based off our initial assessment we set out to work on Maggie’s problematic behaviour of jumping up. Maggie is just 10 months old. Lily has been working on teaching Maggie to approach in a calm matter, resulting in her sitting rather than jumping! Brilliant work ⭐
