If your pet is critically unwell and requires urgent veterinary attention, please follow these steps:

🐾 Call us ahead on 01626 367972 and select the emergency line.

🐾 Inform our team that you have a veterinary emergency. They will liaise with the highways team to arrange temporary access through the roadworks.

🐾FUR BABY FRIDAY!🐾

Meet beautiful Bonnie who we saw recently for her vaccinations! The team took the opportunity to have lots of Bonnie cuddles during her appointment which is the best way to spend a Friday if you ask us!😍

We were also super impressed to see how well Bonnie can already sit on command — what a clever girl!

We can't wait for many more Bonnie cuddles in the future! 🥰

🐾 STRAY CAT – HELP US FIND HIS OWNERS! 🐾

Yesterday, we had a lovely male stray cat brought into the practice. Unfortunately, he isn’t microchipped and wasn’t wearing a collar, so we’re hoping to help reunite him with his owners.

If you or someone you know is missing a cat, please contact our team on 01626 367972 so we can discuss further details to help identify him.

Please share this post to help us get this handsome boy back home where he belongs! 🥰

🐾 FUR BABY FRIDAY🐾

We recently met the lovely Ralph, a gorgeous 6-month-old Cocker Spaniel, who visited us as an outpatient for a CT scan!

Ralph was referred to us as he is suspected to have elbow dysplasia. This is a condition where the bones within the elbow joint don’t develop or fit together normally, which can lead to damage within the joint, pain and eventually arthritis.

Ralph’s pawrent very kindly brought along his favourite duck toy to keep him company during his stay — and as you can see, Ralph absolutely loved snuggling up with his favourite friend after his anaesthetic! 🥰🦆

We always encourage owners to bring along a favourite toy, blanket or something else that smells like home when their pet is staying with us. Having something familiar can help them feel more comfortable and settled while they’re in hospital. 🥰

We hope Ralph is back to his happy, playful self very soon! 💙

Many lumps are harmless, but only a vet can tell. Examination by one of our expert vets can provide reassurance and guidance on next steps if treatment is required.

Book a £25 Lump Check with our trusted team.

If further treatment is needed, we'll put the £25 paid for the Lump Check towards your treatment.

📞 Call the clinic to book or visit our website Offers page for more information and book online.

Limited availability. Offer ends 31 October 2026. T&Cs apply.

Last week, we had the pleasure of attending VetEdge Congress!

VetEdge offers an fantastic programme of lectures covering a wide range of specialist topics, including cardiology, dentistry, ophthalmology, osteoarthritis, wound management, dermatology and nutrition. It was a brilliant opportunity for our vets to attend lectures in the areas they’re most passionate about, learn from leading professionals and bring new knowledge and ideas back to the team.

Alongside the lectures, we also had our very own stall, where we had the opportunity to chat with fellow veterinary professionals and showcase the wide range of services we provide here at South Devon Veterinary Hospital.

It was also a great opportunity to share more about Inspiring Vet Care and the vision behind our growing network of veterinary practices, as well as connect with other members of the veterinary community.

A huge thank you to the team for putting together such an informative and inspiring congress — we had a fantastic time! 💙

Meet Milly!

Milly has recently been coming to see our ophthalmologist, Cat, after she was diagnosed with a limbal melanoma — a type of tumour affecting the limbus, the area where the clear cornea meets the white of the eye.

Milly underwent specialist keratectomy surgery, during which the melanoma was carefully excised. To help protect and support the eye as it healed, a conjunctival hood graft was then placed over the affected area.

As you can see from Milly’s before and after photographs, there is a huge difference in the appearance of her eye following surgery! It’s wonderful to see how well she is healing and how much happier and healthier her eye looks.

A huge well done to sweet Milly for being such a brave girl throughout her treatment! 🥰 We’re so pleased with her progress and will continue to keep a close eye on her as she recovers.

🐾FUR BABY FRIDAY! 🐾

Earlier this week, we had the absolute pleasure of meeting the gorgeous Harley for her very first vaccination — just look at that adorable face! 😍

We always get super excited when a new puppy or kitten comes in to visit us for the first time, so naturally, Harley received plenty of cuddles and attention during her visit! 🥰

We’ll be seeing Harley again in a few weeks for her second vaccination, and once she’s all protected, she’ll be ready to start going on walks and exploring the big wide world! 🌎
