Our aim in breeding is not just to sell, sell, sell, but to try to build a healthier, long lived Dobermann.
With the help of Henna’ breeder, Bitten, who has studied, and still studies the lines, the good points, the not so good , the reasons for death and much much more.
Here we are not content with a Breed who lives to 10 yrs or less. Many breeders will tell you this is normal, well not for us.
Until breeders begin to really study the dogs that have gone before in a pedigree, how are they going to improve the future?
If concentrating just on showing, or just working abilities, using heavy inbreeding to try to retain the show or work abilities : these are now clearly documented in all breeds to not being a factor which improves the health.
Please small breeders /big breeders/ a big ask for the breed clubs, but they too should be studying , do your part to improve the Breed, push the health, push the longevity. If you don’t try, then it won’t happen….simple as that really. 🥰
