⚠️ Heat Stroke in Dogs – A Serious Risk on Costa del Sol.

At temperatures above 30°C (86°F), heat stroke will become a real danger for your dog.

Unlike us, dogs cannot cool themselves without sufficient sweat glands. They rely on panting, which becomes ineffective in hot weather. Once overheating starts, it can quickly lead to a dangerous cycle of rising body temperature, organ failure, and even death.

Watch for early signs:
⚠️ excessive panting
⚠️ drooling
⚠️ weakness or collapse
⚠️ vomiting
⚠️ disorientation

These are the temperatures to keep in mind (note they naturally have higher core temperature than us - that is normal):

👉 Normal: ~38.3–39.2°C (101–102.6°F)
👉 Danger: >40°C (104°F)
👉Emergency: >41.1°C (106°F)

If you do suspect heat stroke:

✅ Move your dog to shade immediately
✅ Do not put them in to your car to travel immediately - that's a recipe for disaster. Wait until the AC is doing its job properly. In the meantime, start cooling with water (hose, tap, or even the sea)
✅ Keep air moving (fan or breeze)
✅ Call a veterinary clinic without delay - Many don't keep up with Google business profile updates - so make sure they are open before you drive.

❌ Avoid common myths—ice cubes or home remedies will not cool your dog effectively and may waste valuable time.
If it’s too hot for you, it’s definitely too hot for your dog.

✨ Caso clínico: Entropión severo en un gato joven

Este Maine C**n de aproximadamente 8 meses, presentaba un entropión bilateral severo: los párpados inferiores se enrollaban hacia adentro, provocando contacto constante de la piel y los pelos con la córnea.

Gracias a la colaboración del excelente equipo de de Malaga, realizamos una intervención quirúrgica mediante la técnica de Read & Broun, combinando un Hotz-Celsus modificado con resección del exceso de piel.

✅ El resultado: ojos abiertos, sin molestias, y unos dueños encantados con la evolución del paciente.

Este tipo de casos son más frecuentes de lo que pensamos, y en gatos, la piel tan flexible hace que la cirugía deba adaptarse cuidadosamente.

✨ Clinical case: Severe entropion in a young cat

This 8-month-old Maine C**n, presented with severe bilateral entropion: the lower eyelids were rolling inward, causing constant friction of skin and hair against the cornea.

Thanks to our collaboration with the excellent team Málaga, we performed surgery using the Read & Broun technique, combining a modified Hotz-Celsus with skin-length reduction.

✅ The result: open, comfortable eyes and very happy owners!

This condition is more common than it seems, and in cats, their flexible skin makes surgical planning even more delicate.
