Busy days as always!!!!
Despite our finances being at an all time low , we are looking to hire another equine vet ( minimum 2 years experience) as we’re just to busy !!!

Buddy:
Though sadly we have not reached our target yet buddy had his surgery today , as delay could negatively affect the outcome.
We still owe a couple hundred 🫣 But : the operation went well and Buddy is doing well !!

🆘 Buddy injured himself running in his paddock and has a fractured p1, he belonged to an owner we know well who brought him to us late last night.without surgery his survival chances are 10-15 % and quality of life would be affected as well, with surgery he’s expected to make a full recovery from this.
I know we can help a lot of horses with that money , but buddy deserves it just like all of them, and helping horses and decision on life and death should be made about the best interest of the horse not by finances.
We need 1800eur to safe his life !!!!

Dignity:

Today Dignity arrived at good karma sanctuary.
I wished this was another successtory but sadly it’s not,that couldn’t be further from the truth.
For 10 long years this boy was stripped from his basic rights and needs , suffered in silence and continued his work.
Somewhere in the last 2 weeks he broke his leg and it took an eternity for him to finally be brought to us .
The only thing we can do is lay him to rest .
A peaceful passing with dignity, love , compassion and mercy.
When death is a relief there’s something seriously wrong with this world 😭
He’s on heavy painmeds now enjoying a good meal and were saying our goodbyes 😭💔

A hard day….
With the saddle still on and the bit in his mouth our volonteer Julie found this horse on the side of the road…
Besides the obviously badly broken shoulder he showed severe abdominal pain and we suspect he was hit by or another horse or a car and most likely had internal injuries as well.
The shoulder was already grounds for sending him over rainbow bridge 🌈😭 but it was so so sad to see him struggle like that .
Initially the owner and bystanders wanted them to force the horse to walk to the end of the road before euthanasia so they would not have to dispose of the body 🤬🤬🤬dispite horrible verbal abuse my hero Dr Alaa & Julie stood their grounds and sweet Khalid was send to heaven on site , while others rode by as if he didn’t matter at all😭

This just one off today’s events but I just don’t have the stomach to update on more…

This work comes at a high price, emotionally and financially and we’re nearly at our breaking point.

Another new addition who is recieving palliative care.

Toto was only bought yesterday by his owner who overloaded him on his first day on the job…😭
At least he immediately came to seek help but unfortunately it looks like he will need to be receiving the last act of love 🌈In about 10-15%of similar cases after treatment the neurological symptoms disappear as they can be secondary due to swelling and local trauma , so he’s on anti inflammatory meds and cortisone treatment and will be assessed again tomorrow.
In all fairness it takes 5 days to see if there’s improvement and minimum 2 weeks to be able to judge the permanent damage , so depending on his comfort levels we can wait and see or help him get to heaven painfree …

If Toto can survive he will remain with us for the rest of his life 😍 but despite the uncertainty he is in need of financial help for his treatment or his euthanasia…

Litteraly many of the horses that reach us stumble in our doors, used until they had nothing left to give….
Exhausted, dehydrated,emaciated and injured as soon as he met kindness he collapsed…
We’re doing everything we can , but for many it’s just too late once we’re finally allowed to treat them.
He’s got nothing left to give…
