๐ฆท Three Days of Learning & Practice
Throughout the visit, our veterinary team received both theoretical and hands-on training covering:
๐ฉป Dental X-ray techniques and interpretation
๐ Local dental nerve blocks and regional anaesthesia
๐ฆท Dental examination and systematic diagnosis
๐ Assessment of different dental conditions
๐ง Clinical reasoning and step-by-step decision-making
๐ Treatment planning, postoperative care and follow-up
๐ฆท Different treatment approaches for a variety of dental problems
๐ฉป Systematic interpretation of dental radiographs
๐ฌ Case-based presentations and discussion of different clinical scenarios
But the visit went far beyond the dental training sessions.
Dr. Karin worked side by side with our veterinary team, joined our daily therapy rounds, participated in the assessment and management of hospitalized patients, and took part in the daily consultations and examination of new cases arriving at the hospital.
One of the most valuable parts of the training was learning not only what to do, but also how to think through a case:
Examine โ Diagnose โ Interpret โ Plan โ Treat โ Follow up.
๐ Improving the Way We Work
Professional development is not only about improving medical skills โ it is also about improving how a hospital works as a team.
During the visit, our team also held several organizational meetings with Corinne Frana, Program Management CH and International at SUST, focusing on ways to further improve the efficiency and organization of our daily workflow.
The discussions covered several important aspects of hospital operations, including:
โข Improving case registration and patient records
โข Strengthening the quality and consistency of medical documentation and written records
โข Improving the flow of information throughout a patientโs journey in the hospital
โข Strengthening coordination between different parts of the team
โข Identifying ways to make everyday processes clearer, more organized and more efficient
โข Discussing further improvements in different organizational and operational aspects of the hospital
These meetings gave us the opportunity to look at our daily work from another perspective โ not only asking:
โHow can we treat it better?โ
but also:
โHow can we work better?โ
Because better organization, clearer documentation and stronger teamwork ultimately mean better and more consistent care for every animal that comes through our doors.
