🐱 Honey’s Pyometra Journey 🏥❤️
Honey, a 2.5-year-old intact female cat, was presented with anorexia, lethargy, high fever (40.8°C), and bloody stool.
Diagnostic workup, including ultrasound, blood tests, blood smear, and chest radiographs, revealed:
✔️ Open pyometra
✔️ Marked inflammatory changes
✔️ Elevated liver enzymes
✔️ Mycoplasma haemofelis infection
Because Honey was medically compromised, we chose stabilization before surgery. She received IV fluids, antibiotics, and supportive care, and after 3 days her temperature, appetite, bloodwork, and liver values improved significantly.
Following stabilization, a successful ovariohysterectomy (OVH) was performed using an anesthetic protocol carefully selected to suit her liver condition and minimize hepatic stress. Recovery was smooth, and Honey quickly returned to eating, playing, and feeling like herself again. 🐾
