I'm sure many of you always wonder about how many dog breeds are out there in the world. Well There are about 493 different breeds of dogs recognized by various kennel clubs worldwide. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale or simply FCI recognizes about 340 of these breeds and divides them into 10 groups,
-Sheepdogs and Cattle Dogs (Herding group)
-Terriers
-Spitz and Primitive types
-Pointing Dogs
-Companion and Toy Dogs
-Dachshunds
-Scent-hounds and Related Breeds
-Sight-hounds
-Retrievers
-Pinscher and Schnauzer + Molossoid Breeds
