🫐 Let’s nerd out about antioxidants for a minute, shall we? 🧬
Free radicals. Oxidative stress. Cellular damage. Sounds like we’re back in biology class, doesn’t it? 😂
But here’s the thing: this stuff is happening inside your dog’s body EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Free radicals are a normal part of life, but when they outnumber the body’s antioxidant defenses, they can contribute to cellular damage over time.
And that’s where nutrition gets interesting. 👀
Blueberries contain anthocyanins (the compounds responsible for that gorgeous blue-purple color), which have antioxidant properties and can help support the body’s natural defenses.
Now, will a handful of blueberries magically turn your senior dog into a puppy again? Sadly, no. If only. 😂
But here’s what I want you to remember:
💙 Good nutrition isn’t about miracle ingredients. It’s about the little things we do consistently.
We can’t eliminate every environmental stressor our dogs encounter, but we CAN be intentional about what goes into their bowls.
And sometimes, that starts with a little blue berry. 🫐
Because at The Barkery, every ingredient has a purpose.
🐾 Save this for the next time someone tells you antioxidants are good for dogs but can’t explain WHY.
