Nile is 10. ❤️
And there is no way I can celebrate ten years of this little monkey without talking about Stéphanie.
I travel a lot, both for work and to visit my family in Canada. Sometimes planned, sometimes very much not. Early flights, late returns, trips that changed at the last minute, and plenty of times when I wasn’t entirely sure when I would be home.
I could do that and still have Nile because I had Stéphanie.
That’s the truth.
Jardin de Poucet Jolie became his second home. Duncan became part of his family. The other loulous became his family. And somewhere along the way, Stéphanie became part of mine.
He wasn’t just being looked after.
He was loved.
And looking at this Reel now, I can see just how much of his life happened here.
The forests. The swimming. The completely ridiculous number of loulous he’s called friends over the years, many of them several times his size.
He had a whole other life here.
And because he did, I got to have mine too.
So as Nile turns 10, I want to say thank you.
To Duncan. To all the loulous who have been part of Nile’s enormous social circle over the years. And to all the humans who have shared this little corner of his life with us.
And especially to you, Stéphanie.
For the early mornings. The late pickups. The last-minute changes.
For loving my stubborn, cuddly, food-obsessed, farty little monkey as one of your own.
And for becoming our family.
Ten years of Nile. And so many of them happened with all of you!
Stéphanie, I couldn’t have done those years without you. ❤️
