Please meet beautiful, golden-yellow dog, Ruby.
Ruby (a healthy and active 8 year-old boxer lab cross) has found herself in a bit of a pickle. You see, Ruby is a single-girl-no-kids type of dog. Her lovely previous family was not a single-girl-no-kids type of family, and without realizing how difficult it would be, they went ahead and grew into a bustling household that drives Ruby crazy. She is more cut out for a calm home, and her type of fun is cuddling with adult humans, walking without kids or dogs, and just having a sweet, quiet little life.
She doesn't dislike the kids per se, but they just really aren't her vibe. Their spontaneous fast moves make her hyper-vigilant, on edge, and make a-little-bit-anxious girl more anxious.
To manage this, the family has been having to separate Ruby from her family to let her settle, but now she is miserable because all she wants to do is to hang out with her parents.
It's heartbreaking, really, for all of them. The bustling family has tried all the things to make the space more manageable and safe for everyone, but Ruby just wants her life back, and her parents are exhausted.
With young kids and crawling-aged babes around, it's also a safety issue because in her state of hyper-vigilance, Ruby is on guard constantly and occasionally nips if she gets spooked unintentionally.
So, we are looking for Ruby's people.
Ruby is a great age (8!) but is a bit scared around new people and will bark to protect her home. After a bit of time she warms up and adores you. She can be a bit reactive on leash, but we actually mean a bit. Just give her a little space and she's fine. She does not want to live with other dogs and she might also not get along with them. She has had good experiences meeting cats, and could be happy in a home with a cat.
WHAT RUBY IS NOT:
A dog park girl, or a daycare girl. She doesn't even want to meet dogs on leash. She is not a little kid-girl, she is not a dog's dog.
WHAT RUBY IS:
A grown up middle-aged woman who knows what she wants and would like you to provide it, thanks! She has some allergy sensitivities to poultry in her diet (that may require medication and a particular food) and she likes it when dogs give her some distance. She has eyes that look into your soul.
Ruby is loyal, beautiful, grateful beyond measure when her life matches her vibe, smart (this girl is a literal genius and knows many commands), and eager to please. She has a gazillion dollar smile.
HER DREAM LIFE
A person or people who can show her a calm, stable, fun life. She'd like a couch if you don't mind, but would be happy with a dog bed. She'd like to go on daily walks and would like to fetch a ball in a fenced yard if you would kindly oblige. She just wants to be by her people's side.
