rescues through fundraising every year

I have been a volunteer with many rescue groups over the last 25+ years
(SPCA, Kennels, rescues)

I love and have participated/competed in many K9 sports. Currently Mya has been enjoying tracking and scent detection as our senior fun sport and bonding time! We (husband Cory and I) currently have 1 adopted dog (Mya-husky/shep mix) and, 2 adopted cats Hope and Boots (siblings left behind starving in an apartment) all adopted in NB after being rescued by the NBSPCA. Our first family dog's Yoda, Jack and just recently my working partner of 9 years Molly have since passed on. Patience, ability, and understanding Canine Behaviour are all very important tools needed to help both the pet parent and the dog communicate their needs, but what is most important is the understanding to work at both their individual paces for long term growth. No two students are the same!! We become a family once we connect, and I challenge you for your pups whole life to create a unique bond, and love like you've never known before.

I recently posted a video of Rollo calmly but curiously watching dogs barking on my computer.

This time I caught him calmly but curiously watching a dog walk past our house. This dog walks past at least once per day and the most Rollo has ever displayed was a tiny little huff; which caught my attention.

My reaction in that first moment is what created a dog who doesn’t bark excessively at random sounds, over the doorbell or if I approach the door or window. My plan is to keep it that way.

The communication would still be the same for a dog with a history of excessive barking; but the prevention, management and most importantly the training exercises applied would be different.

The dog with a barking addiction is much harder to reverse, but it can be done.

A dog who can watch the world go by in any environment, is a dog who is calmer internally.

A dog can be excited, and calm at the same time.

Excessive behaviours are not healthy.

Let’s chat about how to prevent, manage and de-escalate excessive barking.

All August long, 60min virtual consults are only $35 (Reg $112).

Or add your name to my waitlist for the next Barking Presentation!

Message me or sign up for a consult online.

I look forward to our discussion,

Don’t worry, your consult will be with my Mom!!

I am just her amazing assistant. You will most likely see me resting on my bed in the office during your call, and you may see Boots and Hope too.

Have you booked your consult call yet?

Mom wants to thank Team Nala and Team Harvey for booking theirs.

All month long virtual consultations are discounted, incredibly and I don’t think you want to miss out.

You can purchase as many as you like and bank them as well. (Food For Thought).

Perhaps gift a call to someone you know who could benefit from chatting with a Board Certified (3rd party) Pet Professional.

Bookings are welcome to professionals as well!
Something you want to learn to add to your tool box?
This is a great opportunity to enhance your own training skills.

Mom teaches many professionals in the industry world wide, and she would love to increase your canine knowledge. There is always something new to learn.

She is offering in person Behaviour Consults in Moose Jaw & Area.

One of the best ways you can help support Mom’s move to MJ is to; like, share and interact with her social media.

She keeps her circle small for a reason; but that word of mouth and social media interactions are sooooo appreciated!

A huge thanks to Tuxedo Animal Hospital for the referrals as well! We miss you so much!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Mom pays me VERY good for the work I do, and I’m going to go cash in right now!!

You see a blade of grass.
We smell a story.
One you can’t see.

When our nose gets pressed against a blade of grass, we are completely absorbed in a world you simply cannot experience.

Sometimes kinder communication on a walk says to us …
“Sure. Take your time. I am watching!”

It’s magical to us.

Edit to add **
Please be careful around Foxtails as your dog could ingest or it could get caught in their fur/pads.
Always apply your snout to tail assessment after every walk!

If your dog barks at every dog they see or hear

Watch this video …

When I bring up or advertise about virtual learning, most people shy away. I just had a phone call today where they preferred an in home session vs virtual.

I LOVE in home sessions. There is so much value to them as I get to see how the dog feels in their environment. But I don’t always need to be there in person in order to help.

Believe it or not, we can often learn more through virtual consultations as it allow us to slow things down, analyze body language together, and create a plan that makes sense for your dog.

The environment changes for the dog when I am in it, often we recommend virtual consults for dogs who are sensitive to environmental stimuli.

Maybe your dog react to dogs on TV.
Maybe it’s the neighbour’s dog through the window.
Maybe it’s people walking past your house.
Maybe it’s loud unexpected sounds.

In this video, Rollo is watching and listening to dogs playing.

Notice what he’s doing...
🐾 Watching
🐾 Listening
🐾 Curious

He’s interested, but he isn’t escalating into barking, lunging, or becoming overwhelmed.

This is exactly the kind of thing we can discuss during a virtual consultation.

Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs don’t come from me physically working with your dog; they come from helping you understand what your dog is communicating, what they’re experiencing emotionally, and how to respond in a way that builds confidence instead of conflict.

August virtual consultations are on sale; send me a message if you’re ready to better understand your dog’s behaviour or register online for a time that works best for you.

I look forward to our consult together!!

The girls missed Rollo so much while we were gone for the weekend. I found them hanging out on the stairs together after bringing in our bags from the car.

So adorable together!

If you had to guess who the instigator is between them, who would you pick?

A few fun challenges, plenty of laughs, and memories we’ll be smiling about for a long time.

From rolling foam rollers between cones, solving dog puzzles to mastering loose leash walks while balancing an egg on a spoon (without dropping it!), everyone embraced the games with enthusiasm and good humour.

It was the perfect reminder that learning, teamwork, and connection can be just as fun as they are meaningful.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, laugh, and enjoy a party to remember.

Every challenge was a reminder that it’s the people and the pups we share them with that make them unforgettable.

Thank you for being part of this chapter.

A Wednesday walk down memory lane …

I was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Home of the Saamis Tepee, the world’s tallest teepee.

It was built for the 1988 Winter Olympics (Calgary) and later moved to MH.

The teepee stands over 20 stories high and is built entirely of steel.
Featuring 10 large circular shields illustrating the culture and history of the Plains Indigenous peoples.

Plains Indigenous peoples; including the Blackfoot Confederacy, Cree, Saulteaux, Assiniboine, and Métis, thrived in deep connection with the Canadian prairies and the iinii (bison).

They endured the bison slaughter, forced relocation, and cultural erasure.

The Saamis Tepee stands not as a relic of the past, but as a towering symbol of a living culture that refused to be rewritten. Preserving knowledge, fighting for rights, and cultural resurgence.

Learn their history, amplify their voices and attend cultural events.

Buy from indigenous businesses and hold all leaders accountable; to ensure they are actively implementing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.

I attended several powwows as a child, and they are one of my favourite memories growing up.

I moved to BC in 1994, and have no intention of ever moving back but no matter how far I wander, my roots will always lead back to Medicine Hat.

Rollo is the only dog who has visited MH with me.
Yoda and Jack drove through on the highway, but we didn’t stop off during a posting move in 2007.

Mya and Molly never made it this far west.
My last time here was 10 years ago for my Dad’s funeral. 😭

We made it back home safe and sound from our first solo road trip to Calgary!

We stopped off for a quick photo and a fun walk to stretch our legs.

Can you guess where my Mom was born??

I had an awesome weekend, and can’t wait for our next solo road trip in a couple weeks!
