Most reactions don’t come out of nowhere.

𝗜𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀? 🌪️

The zoomies.
The grabbing.
The constant motion.

It’s easy to think it’s “too much.”

But it’s not bad behavior.

It’s development.

And a longer walk won’t solve it.

Young dogs don’t just need more movement—
they need the right kind of engagement.

Sniffing.
Foraging.
Problem-solving.
Structured play.

This is how they learn to process their world.

Because when you play intentionally with your dog,
you’re not just burning energy—

You’re building connection.
You’re supporting emotional regulation.
You’re helping their nervous system learn how to shift from excitement to calm.

That’s what lasts.

That’s what changes behaviour.

Dogs know how to dog.

The question is…
do we know how to help them?

So many of the behaviors we struggle with in dogs may actually begin with unmet needs.

Dogs were designed to sniff, explore, investigate, search, play, observe, move, and interact with the world around them. These are not meaningless activities — they are important forms of natural behavior expression and behavioral diversity.

What if some of the so-called “behavior problems” we see are actually dogs trying to meet needs the only way they know how?

How is your dog's recall?

𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬.

There is nothing worse than the sinking feeling you get when a dog is running away as you call and call for them to come back.
When Hogan does this, my fear of a car hitting him or him getting lost far away, can actually make me feel very ill.

It is important to plan ahead of time and be ready for how you will deal with a dog that does not have good recall.

What Happens When Dogs Finally Get What They Need ❤️

more choice
more play
less pressure

Dogs don’t just need training.
