Some happily ever afters are worth the wait, and Scotty’s is one of them. 💙

Just like Cinderella’s glass slipper, we knew the perfect fit was out there for this sweet boy, and oh, did we ever find it! 🥹🏡

Scotty now has acres and acres to run, explore, and enjoy life to the fullest, a new fur BFF sibling to share his adventures with, and the kind, patient humans who will give him all the love, understanding, and time he needs to thrive. ❤️🐕

It’s everything we could have hoped for and more. Sometimes, the right home takes a little longer to find, but when it finally comes along, you realize it was worth every second of the wait. 🐾✨

And to your wonderful new family, thank you for seeing the special boy we always knew you were going to love. ❤️

🐾❤️ SISI UPDATE — LOOK AT THIS GIRL GO!! ❤️🐾

Every single day, she gets a little stronger.
Every single day, she continues to heal.
And every single day, she reminds us just how incredible her will to survive really is. ❤️

At Sisi's last veterinary checkup, we received some wonderful news! At this point, her biggest hurdle is rebuilding the strength and muscle in her hind legs.

Muscle that was torn apart. Muscle that was literally eaten away.

Yeah… you read that right.

For those who don't remember Sisi's story, let me remind you.

Sisi is the last of the shepherd pups still in our care.
She's the little girl who was on death's door.
The one whose entire back end was ripped apart, with open wounds infested with maggots.
The one who would SCREAM in pain when someone simply tried to touch her.
The one who was so weak, so injured and so neglected that we genuinely didn't know if she would survive.

Let that sink in for a minute.

This wasn't a minor injury. This wasn't a little puppy who needed some extra groceries.
This was horrific suffering. And it should NEVER have happened.

But look at her now. ❤️

She's walking. She's playing. She's gaining weight. She's rebuilding muscle. And most importantly, she's getting to experience what being a happy, loved puppy should have looked like from the very beginning.
We couldn't be prouder of this little fighter. 🐾

NOW… LET'S TALK ABOUT ACCOUNTABILITY.

In my last update, I shared that we had contacted Animal Welfare regarding the horrific conditions Sisi, Darla, Ozzy, Tater and Ginny were found in.

We followed the proper channels.

We made the phone calls.

We provided information.

We tried to do everything the right way because these dogs deserve justice.

My calls began AUGUST 15TH.

On September 25th, we received an email essentially stating that they were "aware of the situation."
I responded respectfully.
Then, on October 7th, we received another email stating that an investigator would be in touch to obtain statements, veterinary records, photographs and other evidence.

Wonderful!
Finally, some movement!

So… have we received that call?

NO.

Not one phone call.
Not one request for the veterinary records.
Not one request for the photographs documenting what these dogs endured.

And here we are, more than TWO MONTHS after I first started calling.

I understand investigations take time. I understand there are procedures and protocols that must be followed.
But what I cannot understand is how animals can be found in such horrific conditions, with documented injuries and suffering, and we are STILL waiting for someone to contact us to collect the evidence.

What exactly does it take?

Does an animal have to die before someone takes action?

Was Sisi not close enough to death?

Were her screams not enough?

Were the maggots eating away at her wounds not enough?

Were five dogs suffering not enough?

WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY?

We aren't asking for special treatment. We aren't asking anyone to skip due process.
We are asking for these animals to be taken seriously and for the investigation we were told would happen to actually move forward.

Because Sisi cannot speak for herself.
Neither can Darla, Ozzy, Tater or Ginny.

BUT WE CAN. AND WE WILL.

We will continue advocating for them, asking questions and pushing for answers.
Sisi has fought far too hard to survive for us to simply shrug our shoulders and move on.
Her physical wounds are healing.
But the fact that she suffered like this in the first place should NEVER be forgotten.

We can't change their past, but we can rewrite their future. ❤️

And part of rewriting that future means fighting to make sure other animals don't have to endure the same suffering.

🐾❤️ AND IT'S ONLY WEDNESDAY... ❤️🐾
Between medical issues, unexpected emergencies, owner surrenders, emergency intakes, vet appointments, and everything else that comes with running a rescue... it's been one heck of a week!
And did we mention... IT'S ONLY WEDNESDAY?! 🤦‍♀️😫
This week has been especially difficult.
We suffered the heartbreaking loss of a sick kitten in our care. 💔 Despite the love and care given, sometimes the outcome isn't the one we fight so hard for. And those losses hurt. Every. Single. Time.
And before we've even had a chance to process that loss, we now have THREE more sick kittens needing medical attention. 😫💔
Just when we think we've caught up, the phone rings, another message comes in, or another animal desperately needs somewhere safe to land.
Rescue doesn't operate on a 9-to-5 schedule. There are no quiet hours, no guarantees, and apparently no such thing as a slow week!
Behind the scenes, we're juggling full-time jobs, families, foster homes, veterinary appointments, medications, endless messages, and the emotional roller coaster that comes with trying to save lives.
And sometimes, despite everything we do, we lose one.
That's the part of rescue people don't always see. The tears, the worry, the sleepless nights, the second-guessing, and the heartbreak of wondering if there was anything more we could have done.
Some days are rewarding. Some days are absolutely devastating. And some days we seriously wonder how much more we can possibly fit onto our plates.
But somehow, we keep going.
Because while we're grieving the one we couldn't save, there are three more depending on us to keep fighting. ❤️
That's rescue. It's messy. It's exhausting. It's expensive. It's heartbreaking. And sometimes it's downright overwhelming.
To our incredible fosters, volunteers, veterinary teams, donors, and supporters... thank you for standing beside us through the good days and the really, really difficult ones.
We're tired. We're overwhelmed. Our hearts are a little heavier this week. But we're still here, and we're still fighting for them. ❤️🐾
Now, if the universe could kindly give us a break for the remainder of the week, we'd really appreciate it.
Because seriously... IT'S ONLY WEDNESDAY! 😫🤦‍♀️
