**Whiskey Update 🩵**
Well... this handsome boy went in for his neuter and double cherry eye surgery, and everything initially went great!
A few days after surgery, however, we noticed that one of his eyes wasn't healing properly and appeared very painful. Back to the vet we went, where it was discovered that poor Whiskey was suffering from **exophthalmos**.
Exophthalmos is a condition where the eyeball protrudes abnormally from the eye socket. It can be caused by swelling, infection, trauma, or other issues behind the eye that push it forward. Not only is it uncomfortable, but it can also be extremely painful and can quickly threaten the health of the eye itself.
Needless to say, another surgery was needed immediately. Despite everyone's best efforts, the damage to the eye was too severe, and Whiskey required the removal of his affected eye.
The good news? Dogs are incredibly resilient, and Whiskey is already proving just how tough he is. He's recovering well, his pain is gone, and he's back to being his happy, loving self.
While this wasn't the outcome anyone had hoped for, we're thankful we caught the problem quickly and were able to get him the care he needed. Thank you to our veterinary team for taking such great care of our boy.
Now it's time for Whiskey to focus on healing and enjoying life as the handsome pirate pup he was always meant to be. 🏴☠️❤️
