Did you know the average age of our volunteers is 23?
Many of our volunteers have faced bullying, childhood trauma, discrimination, and barriers to opportunity for community participation and employment.

At the Pup-n-Cup Cafe & Shop program of the Diversity Den Society, our volunteers report feeling "safe and valued" and "more acceptance than any other place". The have also said "I don't have to mask or pretend", "I love it here!" And "Everyone is so nice and i feel free".

We firmly believe that everyone deserves a place to belong and to grow.

Our Inclusive Volunteer Training initiative will meet the volunteer where they are, design a set of achievable goals, and support them toward successfully completing their certificate.

Each of you reading this post can support our volunteers by simply stopping by each day or week and ordering your beverage and snack.

These two dedicated volunteers were happy to prepare and serve these two drinks today for customers at our outdoor patio!

Its no surprise they are two of the four volunteers that will begin our Inclusive Volunteer Training Program! Each will receive a certificate of completion of the skills they've demonstrated in customer service, barista, and retail.

We are beyond grateful to offer this program to this group and hope to meet the needs of over a dozen others in line for a spot.

We are honoured and excited to announce that the Diversity Den Society has been awarded a $3,500 grant from the Community Foundation of the North Okanagan!

This grant represents a significant milestone for our organization as our very first grant award. We are deeply grateful to the Community Foundation North Okanagan and the generous donors whose support makes this funding possible.

Thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to launching our Inclusive Volunteer Training Program pilot project, helping individuals with diverse-abilities build confidence, develop employment-ready skills, and a supportive experience.

What began as a dream of creating a more inclusive community is steadily becoming a reality. This grant will directly impact lives and create new opportunities for growth, learning, and belonging.

From all of us at Diversity Den Society, thank you for believing in our mission and helping us build a community where everyone has the opportunity to belong. ❤️

We are making windchimes on Tues, June 16th 11:30 to 1:30 and Thursday 1:00 to 3:00.

All supplies included and you take home your creation! Cost is by donation :-)

This will be a very fun project!
Tops are pre-assembled by Leon from branches.

We are approaching our first birthday!
One year of:

Providing employment skills for youth and adults with diverse-abilities

Supporting artists to showcase and sell their art

And, enjoying an inclusive space to explore creativity, connection and community!

We are a trendsetter, grassroots charity who celebrates diversity.

As one of our volunteers so eloquently said coming into the cafe is like "walking into a hug" and another said "the cafe is like home" ❤️

We are so honored to have been nominated for the Changemaker and Community Impact awards!
The Vernon Women in Business Women of the Year event was amazing and I feel so lucky to have stood shoulder to so many incredible and inspirational women! And, to have such an amazing team by my side, daily!

Our team together are changing lives. With community support, we will continue to build opportunities for more skill development, connection, creativity and belonging and create an inclusive community!

We are extremely grateful to all of our fabulous volunteers...

But, we are also so lucky to have such amazing friends that join us Thursdays and many Tuesdays for fun and laughter. You bring joy, community and support to our cafe and lives! Thank you!!

Its the first day of
Accessibility means different things to different people....
To some it could be, can I drive there?
To some it could be, are there stairs, objects in the way, enough lighting, information in accessible formats, inclusive people, supports and so much more!
From visiting a friend, a home to live in, to getting food, accessing basic services and participating in community.
Access should be for everyone!
Try it....
Wear a blindfold and walk with a white cane downtown to the barber.

Use a wheelchair to go get a coffee or groceries.
