Lifting Stars Veterinary Homecare A mobile veterinary service for end-of-life care and at-home compassionate euthanasia. As pet owners, we cherish our pets as members of our families. Thank you.

We seek the best possible options for our pet’s care throughout all life stages, including those near the end of life. Lifting Stars Pet Homecare was established in recognition of the importance of providing senior pets with a peaceful and stress-reduced in-home veterinary assessment and providing pet owners with recommendations for end-of-life palliative and hospice care. When it is time for compassionate and humane euthanasia, the alternative is a more peaceful process for your beloved pet in the familiar comforts of home. Lifting Stars Pet Homecare is owned and operated by Dr. Jeff Berkshire. Since graduating from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2005, Jeff has practiced small animal medicine and surgery for over eleven years. His experience as a full-time associate veterinarian includes working with Westminster Veterinary Group in Westminster, California (four years), Care Pet Wellness Group in North Vancouver (two years) and Granville Island Veterinary Hospital in Vancouver (five years). Jeff is a member of the College of Veterinarians of British Columbia, the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement and the International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care. Thanksgiving is coming up this weekend, and we just wanted to let you know we’ll still be here 🧡
We know the holidays can feel a bit different if your companion is getting older or not doing so well. If you’re not sure where things are at, our quality of life appointments can help you understand how they’re really doing and what comes next. And if you’re starting to think about saying goodbye, we’re here for that too.
We have appointments open on Saturday the 10th, Sunday the 11th and Monday the 12th.

We’re taking a gentle pause to remember the children who never came home, and to hold the Survivors, their families, and their communities close in our hearts.

We’re so grateful to live, work, and care for families on the traditional, unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. We walk this land with respect and gratitude.

Please welcome Dr. Isabelle Falardeau to the Lifting Stars family 🐾
Dr. Isabelle grew up in Montreal and moved to BC in 2020. She knew from a young age she was meant to be a vet. After earning her DVM from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2019, she spent years in emergency medicine, where she learned how much it matters to support pets and their people through the hardest moments.
Now she brings that same gentle, compassionate care to families saying goodbye at home.
Off the clock, you’ll find her running, hiking and camping with her family and two dogs 🌲

This weekend some of the Lifting Stars team got to spend the morning with the wonderful team at Gateway, our cremation partners. 💜
They very kindly invited us in, showed us around and answered all of the many questions we had!
It was really lovely to meet more of the people behind the scenes and see first-hand the care and compassion that goes into looking after the pets we entrust to them.
Trust is such a huge part of what we do, and knowing our families’ pets continue to be treated with kindness and respect after they leave our care is so important to us.
Sadly not all of our team could make it, but a big thank you to everyone at Gateway for taking the time to have us and for making us feel so welcome. 💫

This past weekend, we had the honour of sponsoring VOKRA’s Walk for the Kitties! 🐾💜

It was such a lovely morning, with a fantastic turnout, beautiful weather and, of course, lots of very cute companions joining us for the walk! 🐶🐱

At Lifting Stars, caring for animals and the people who love them is at the heart of what we do, so we were especially happy to support an organization doing such important work for cats and kittens in our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out, walked, donated and helped raise much-needed funds for VOKRA.

They’re still accepting donations until the end of September, so there’s still time to support this wonderful cause if you weren’t able to make it on the day. 💜

Skeena was rescued by VOKRA before finding her forever home, where she spent 8½ very happy and love-filled years. 🤍
She loved sitting by her window watching the birds, squirrels and raccoons in the trees. 🐾
She was so very loved, and while 8½ years could never have been enough, they were happy ones.
