Friends and Ferals Cat Rescue My name is Brogan and I rescue cats in the area of Tweed, ON🇨🇦
My goal is to reduce the number of stray & feral cats in our community. Follow along for more!

I provide TNR services for ferals, and with help of foster homes, adopt out the friendly ones. My name is Brogan, and I am the self proclaimed "Tweed Cat Lady". I started Friends and Ferals in 2021 as sort of a "hobby" to try and help reduce the stray cats in my neighborhood. Since then, with the help of my community and other willing hands, I have been able to help over 200+ cats/kittens. My main

goal for Friends and Ferals is focusing on TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) services for the feral cats of Tweed and surrounding areas. I spay and neuter as many stray cats as possible and find homes for the ones that are adoptable. I rely on donations to raise the money to fund spays/neuters, for food and other veterinary costs that come associated with running a rescue. I will always continue to advocate for feral cats and do as much as I can to help the many felines in our community. Friends and Ferals is always looking for fosters, adopters, and donations of ANY kind (not just monetary). Any and all support is greatly appreciated. For any inquiries, or if you would like to make a donation, emails or e-transfers can be sent to [email protected]

Milo 🤎

This handsome boy is looking for a home!! 🏡

Milo is just under a year old and has a lot of energy! He’s a busy boy, a little bit of a nuisance tbh (but in an adorable kitty way of course) and will absolutely make sure you know when he has something to say. 📣

This boy has had a bit of an uneasy start to his life, with a lot of changes and uncertainty, and what he really needs now is a safe, stable home where he can finally settle in and just be a cat. ❤️

Milo would thrive with a consistent routine and someone who will give him the time and patience to become comfortable. Once he trusts you, this boy LOVES you BIG. He’ll follow you around, make biscuits, curl up on your chest, and happily soak up all the affection you’ll give him.

He loves sitting at an open window, chasing a tinfoil ball, treats (who doesn’t?!), chin scratches, and being picked up to perch on your shoulder. He can be a little skittish at times, but he has so much love to give once he feels safe. ❤️

And also apparently really loves his carrier, which is a pretty handy bonus! (If you know, you know😂).

Milo is neutered, vaccinated, and FIV/FeLV negative. 🩺

We’re really hoping to find this sweet boy the kind of home where he can finally have some consistency, stability, and someone to love him for the awesome little guy that he is. 🥹

If you think Milo might be for you, please send me a message! 📧

GARF UPDATE- 🧡

It’s also Ginger Cat Appreciation Day! So, what better day to celebrate this handsome fella?! 🥹🧡

Many of you have been following our stories and keeping up with what’s been going on with Garf. For those of you who haven’t been in the loop, let me fill you in;

Garf had his dental surgery August 13, and unfortunately experienced a complication. As you can see, his right eye has been affected. Although we are not 100% sure what happened, we believe his eye injury may have been a result of previous trauma.

A few weeks prior to Garf coming into our care, his caretaker noted that his eye had been swollen for a few weeks. Although it seemed to clear up on its own, we believe whatever was going on then may have significantly contributed to what is happening now.

Thankfully for Garf, his eye has noticeably improved since it first happened. We are seeing his eye become lighter every day (it was VERY dark when this first happened). His eye may never fully return to its “normal” appearance, however, it does not seem to be causing him any current issues. We will continue monitoring his little eyeball and hope that it continues to resolve itself. 🤞🏻

To add insult to injury, Garf is also dealing with a pretty significant UTI. I received a frantic call a few days after his dental surgery from his foster, worried that he may be blocking. For anyone who has a male cat, you understand how serious this can be.

Thankfully, Garf is just a bit of a drama king. 😂 He was not blocked at all, but understandably, he was very uncomfortable. Since being on antibiotics for the last week, he is no longer experiencing urinary issues and has chilled the heck out.

We will be rechecking his urine tomorrow, with the hope that everything is cleared and he is okay to discontinue his meds.

We also will be running what is called a ProBNP test (blood) to check for stress on his heart, as per the recommendation of the radiologist. Our hope, of course, is that there are no issues with Garf’s heart. However, if there is increased pressure in his heart, it could potentially help explain what happened with his eye.

Of course, our hope is that Garf has no issues with his little heart, but we will cross that bridge when we get there. ❤️

In the meantime, Garf is happy as can be. He is the biggest love bug ever and very much enjoys all the attention he can get. He will head-bonk me if I am not paying enough attention to him. 😂

Although he maybe should have been a yellow cat instead of an orange cat, since he is a bit of a “lemon,” that does not stop us from loving the heck out of him. 🍋🧡

When all is said and done, Garf will have had a dental, bloodwork, X-rays, an ultrasound, a neuter, a handful of medications, and more Churu and wet food than you could ever dream of!

We love this FIV boy so much. How could you not?! 🥹🧡

(Scroll through to see the progress of his eye. 👁️ The last photo is of course when he first came into care🫶🏼)

Sweet Penny Lane🩷

All her siblings have been adopted, leaving miss Penny waiting for her forever family. 🥺

Penny is so sweet and playful. She is the perfect balance of kitten energy and sleepy snuggles. She is very outgoing and would love to find her new home soon. 🩷

Penny absolutely must be adopted into a home with another friendly kitty as she adores cuddling up with a furry friend.

If think Penny could be the girl for you, please send me a message or submit an application!🫶🏼

Sq**rt & Miles 🥹

These two cutie pies are coming in for their vaccines 💉 tomorrow and will soon be ready for their next adventure! 🏡

When Miles first came into our care, he was dealing with a mild upper respiratory infection. He’s been treated and is doing really great now! You may remember that this little man made intake number 400 for us — hence the name Miles, for Milestone! Of course, that makes him even more special to us. 🫶🏼

And then there’s little Miss Sq**rt…😂

Sq**rt came to us with a nasty botfly in her neck that had unfortunately turned into an abscess. When our veterinarian drained the abscess, the pus (unfortunately for her 🤢😂) ended up all over her face, while the botfly itself ricocheted right off her forehead! 🙀😂 Luckily she was a good sport about it, but I’m not going to lie- it was NASTY! I swear you can’t make this stuff up.

And so yeah….THAT is how Sq**rt got her name. 😝💦

This brother-sister duo came from the colony we are still actively working on here in Tweed. They’re approximately 14 weeks old and are both absolute cuties who would love to find a wonderful home — either together or with another friendly, playful kitty. 🐾

If you think Miles and Sq**rt might be the perfect addition to your fam, send me a message! 📧

Because together is better🐾

As you all know, we have SO many amazing kittens currently looking for their furever homes, with even more sweet babies becoming available for adoption very soon.❤️

Because so many of these little ones would truly thrive with a feline friend, we’re offering a 2-for-1 adoption special on our kittens! 🐱🐱❤️

Kittens are often happiest when they have another kitten to grow up with. They learn from each other, keep each other company, burn off some of that endless kitten energy, and help teach each other appropriate play and social skills. Two kittens can actually make life easier for their humans too, because they have a built-in playmate instead of relying on you for all of their entertainment! This is something I truly believe, and have learned from experience (helllooooo Winnie).
And really, what’s better than one kitten? TWO kittens!!🥹

So if you’ve been thinking about adding a kitten to your family, this is your sign! 👀❤️
Adopt two and pay one adoption fee. 🐾

All that being said, there’s an important reason we’re pushing adoptions so hard right now.

Friends & Ferals will likely have to close for intakes of friendly cats and kittens in the next few weeks.

I don’t think we’ve EVER had this many kittens in care at one time. We have kittens who have been in foster care for over FIVE months without so much as an inquiry. What the heck.🥺💔

I absolutely love being able to help these babies, but also have to be realistic about our capacity. We cannot continue taking in more cats and kittens than we can responsibly care for, especially when the ones already in our care are still waiting for their families.

Our priority right now has to be getting these babies adopted. ❤️

So if you’ve been thinking about adopting, please consider giving one of our kittens, or even better- a pair, a place to call home. 🏡🐾

These babies are ready and waiting for their people. Could that be you?!?🥹
Because together really is better!!🫶🏼
