the person behind tides & tails 🌊🐾
Hi! I’m Janie.
On November 16th, 2024, I was scrolling Facebook after work when I saw a friend share a litter of Lab puppies.
Within a minute, I’d sent the post to my parents. Five minutes later, I’d decided I needed one. Ten minutes later, I’d talked myself out of it because I already had two cats and a bunny. Fifteen minutes later, I made a deal with myself: if the puppy I was looking at was a girl, I’d get her.
Three hours later, my deposit was sent. 😂
On December 23rd, my little Christmas baby, Nya, came home. I thought that was the end of the story, but it turned out to be the beginning of this one.
A little over a year ago, I started Tides & Tails with a dream, a sewing machine, and absolutely no idea how to sew.
I also work a full-time 9–5, so looking back, I’m still not sure what I was thinking when I decided to add a business to the mix!
But I’d like to think what I do for work is one of the least interesting things about me.
I’m adventurous, curious, and creative. I love travelling, making memories, and learning new things. Whether it’s painting, photography, sewing, or another hobby I’ve convinced myself I need, I’m always finding something new to try.
I’m also incredibly sentimental. I cherish the little things, the photographs, the places I’ve been, and the memories attached to them.
I’m ambitious, a little restless, and usually thinking about my next project or adventure. I’m independent, but I still second-guess myself (usually after I’ve already committed 😂).
Most importantly, I’m a huge animal lover. The animals I’ve shared my life with have meant the world to me. I love their personalities, their weird little quirks, and everything that makes them who they are.
More than anything, I just want to create a life that feels like my own.
And somehow, all of that brought me here, sharing a little piece of myself through Tides & Tails. 🩵
